Ok I know I am getting a bit carried away with this, but I think it is really cute. If I wanted to add some epics to my cd favor, how would I go about doing that. i could burn the cd's myself but could I upload photos onto it also, is there a special kind of cd i would have to use? I know it is weird but humor me.....lol

Re: A little high tech
Welll, you could make a VCD (video CD) If you have Windows XP or ME, there is a little known thing called Windows Movie Maker. You can set up a timeline of photos and then import the music onto it too. It has all sorts of effects and transitions to use between photos, and you can cut the music off at a particular point....anyone can play the cd on thier computer on Windows media player. Some DVD players can play VCD's too. Its very easy to use! Also fun to do...and no special CD's required, just use regular blank ones! Not wierd at all I think it's cute and fun! And since I am a computer tech I am kinda on the geeky side...so I'm glad to help with any techie questions!

I have windows XP but I don't think I have a cd burner on my computer, I will look to see if I have that movie player thingie. I know this is gonna sound a bit lazy, but do you know of anyone who does this. I just need about 80 of them. I am gonna order the labels and cases from another company so all I need are the raw cd's.

What we are doing is making a DVD/CD combo. The music cd will contain highlights of our songs played that wedding night and others songs that have meaning to use. That was easy. Making the DVD is hard (well hard as in what i want to put in there). If you have a DVD burner, you can make photomontages and clips of movies. We are including some funny family moments between us and family. Alot of pictures played to various background music. You can edit it for black and white and sephia like the pros do it. It was kinda fun. We might talk over the music and just explain some pictures and funny moments. I tell ya..i think this a good project, it includes a good part of the ppl are the wedding and its fun to do things your self. I coudln't even guess what i would want as a wedding favor.
VCDs do work good and most dvd players do read that.
Software is not that expensive. If you want to look at some, FM and i will find you best software for the price.
FM me...i mess with computers for a living.

LOL so do I (mess w/ computers for a living) It is fun to do yourself though...I would...I would not trust someone to do it for me and have it come out NOT the way I want it to. About win movie maker, you can download fun packs with titles and sound effects and things from the microsoft website, for free, and movie maker is free too...comes with XP after all! Free software is always good... You would have to check with the mfg. of the dvd player or the manual to make sure it will play vcd's. I have seen top of the line brand name DVD players that will not play them...and dirt cheap no name brands that will.

Are the downloads free? It looks very interesting. Dj can you recommend the best cd's to use, for this kind of project?

Re: A little high tech
yes, downloads are free. I'm using that program (windows movie maker) in combonation with Sonic MyDVD. The 2 together is a great combo.
MovieMaker will not burn as a VCD though. You would need another application for that.
Any CD-R will do. Try to get something with little text on the cd as if you were to make a light colored label, you won't see the text of the cd. Sony, TDK, Maxell...just to name a few.

Re: A little high tech
Text on the Cd would not matter much if you were planning on using cd lables. But the chance of them coming out wrinkled or off center.....I would not do it. They do make printable cds (the surface can be printed right on them!) but you would need a printer that is capable of that. You could use NERO or EZCD creator to make the VCD's, you would have to use windows movie maker to just 'make the movie' in the right format (usually avi or mpeg) so that the cd burning software can convert it. Also I would not use those colored cd's..they are crappy. After time the coloring can just peel off.

Re: A little high tech
The cd labels (from personally experience) when using a white background, the cd still shows and looks tacky. That (if i said it wrong) was what i was trying to say.
ANd that is correct about, use movie maker to make what ya like..then burn with either Nero or EZCD creator. Both are highly respectable programs.

Who or where can i find this..only thing i remember is that a cd burner can write text or graphic to any unsed portion of the bottom of the cd...
thanks

Re: A little high tech
Well I do remember a cd burner that could do that....but it is the burner itself that does it...so hardware would have to be installed into your computer. I have seen it, but cannot remeber the name of the brand name. As far as the printable cd's... Epson makes the printers that can do it. Theres a tray where you put the CD into. As far as the cd's themselves..all the major brands make them but they may be harder to find in retail stores. I work at Best Buy, and I have seen them there, but not recently....I willl check for you and on prices if you want...you can FM me.
