A little overwhelmed

Original post by curiousgeorge

I havent booked my RH yet...FH is amazing and he has been taking me to go look at all these different places! Its exciting but at the same time it can be disapointing. I feel like everything is just so expensive and no one is working with us. We are both students and working full time, saving for a house and living together in an apartment and now trying to have the wedding of my dreams...its all sooooooo overwhelming at times, I guess financially...I feel like just flying to vegas just the two of us and eloping! The only thing that truely matters to me in the end is my Rob!! I just wish things werent so damn pricey! SOrry i just needed to vent!

Re: A little overwhelmed

Hmmm someone said they are paying $52pp for a saturday afternoon at stewart manor...If you want evening call to see what their price is, it might not be THAT much more.

Also the prices posted for the watermill and swans club were pretty low $80pp and under

You could try to aim for a morning/afternoon wedding or a Sunday wedding. That'll definitely help lower the price. Good luck!

Mediteranean Manor Check this out too! A friend from work got married there and recommended it.

ETA: They also have packages.

Awwwwww, I hear you sister!! It's so tough when you're trying to be responsible and trying to save for a house, go to school, and work at the same time. We're in the same boat over here. It's hard trying to figure out where you're going to cut.

Someone mentioned that the Holstville Country Club (I think that's what its called) is really inexpensive!! Apparently it's all new or redone, and the food is great!

Keep your head up, chica. It will all work out.

I know my hall, sans souci sounds like it fits your needs perfectly.
I feel they can hold about 140-150 comfortably.

peak season i know they go down to about 65 a person

Re: A little overwhelmed

Have you tried negotiating a lower cost but increasing your minimum requirement? We saved $5pp by increasing the minimum. My rationale is I'd rather pay more and celebrate with more people than just pay more!! It should work because you have a nice sized guest list anyway.

I'm in the same boat, no father of the bride, mother of the bride doenst have much and lives in a tiny apt herself, and grooms parents are retired on small fixed income and have a daughter to pay for when she weds...
We are paying for everything ourselves. And I'm having a rough time finding anything too. My friend got married in Chicago last August at a beautiful place and total wedding was just under 10 k, just can't find it here...
I'll post anything I find, I think we are looking in same price range.

It's hard to do this in NY but it is possible, many others have done it...It's just alot of extra work...You have to do alot of research, probably call up and see more places than alot of people would. Also alot of DIY projects and shopping around for the best prices...good luck
