Just curious how others feel-do you prefer to have a man or woman gynocologist and why?

I go to a man because he's been the 'family' dr. for a while.
My sister went to him last year thru her whole pregnancy and he was great.
He is a great dr. and I just cant picture me going to a woman.

I go to a woman. I would never go to a man. I cant exactly explain why...its just my preference.

I always went to woman because a man made me feel uncomfortable. However a number of years ago I had moved and didn't have an ob/gyn but I was having a problem with abnormal bleeding an needed to see someone asap! So I booked with a male Dr. And I'm so glad I did, I've always had a problem with paps and he was very gentle and nice. Also I didn't have insurance at that point and for months he would give me a %50 discount on my visits. Then I became pregnant, and I didn't have insurance for the first 3 months. He actually charged me even less, and put off all of the expensive tests until after I was insured, he also did several sono's for free!! Not to mention he gave me my pre-natal vitamins so I would'nt have to buy them. Now I wasen't by any means broke or crying poverty and I even offered to pay full price for everything, but he would'nt let me until I was insured. He is a wonderful man and a great Dr, and I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to deliver my son. I still see him( actually I'm way over due for a check-up) my only complaint is that he is very popular so the wait is usually an hour or so.

Men.
Generally they are (To me anyway) more sensitive.

I have had both and I've had several.. moving, changing jobs, etc.

Women have a tendency of being sorta 'yeah, I understand so you don't impress me with your problems' type attitude.

Men usually have more of textbook answer and a whole lot more open minded and willing to work with me for comfort. Like they're afraid to cause pain or miss anything.

My men doctors caught what women missed two females doctors versus one male.

Bottom line, 'The Tool Box' doctor as I call them does something to me that borderlines legal rape. Frankly man or female both are digging in and doing stuff I think no human should or was meant to do to another. So I dont care, male or female, just HURRY UP

Thanks everyone for your input, i am keeping the appointment that I have, just to make sure everything is alright, and like was said before, hopefully it will just be quick, I guess it's never a very comfortable experience. Now I'll just keep my fingers crossed.
