a little personal (gynocologist question)

Just curious how others feel-do you prefer to have a man or woman gynocologist and why?

i prefer a woman though i feel bad bc men are being pushed out of practices and there are practices that pride themselves on being all women...i just read an article about it recently. ~lacey

Man. There is nothing natural to me about a woman going down there. Not that a strange man is natural either but hey, that's just me.

I always had had male gynos and had wanted a woman, but they were more booked. Last week I had my first appt with a female doc. and she was so rough I called later because I was bleeding so profusely after the pap that I thought she had done something very wrong. It was probably just her, but she definitely was not more gentle or understanding than the men!

Here's my slight dilema-I have alsways had a woman dr. who i really like, shes very gentle, etc. Now I have to go next week for my regular check up, but I have also been having a pain, almost near my groin(?) area so want to go asap. My dr. is on vacation and they booked me w/ the next available appt., with a male dr. I just feel a little weird about it. Do you think I should just stick with the appt. I have?

Same type of experience here. I prefer a man.

Woman.
I will never go to man because he will never know what it feels like to have cramps so bad that they spread down your thighs; he doesn't have the same working parts.

People tend to sexualize gynocology and say it's unnatural to have a woman doctor; no matter who you go to, man or woman, they are certainly not checking anyone out!

I've only used a woman.

I'm sure either are equally great, but I prefer a woman. I just feel like she knows first hand about what it's like to have a period, cramps, any other female-related things that a man can read about, but never fully 'get.' I'm sure there are plenty of wonderful and crappy gynos of both genders...

My mom REFUSES to go to a woman for that same reason... She thinks they are too rough because they aren't compassionate... I just can't get with another man being down there!!!

it doesnt matter what sex they are - the important thing is finding a good doctor

oh - and i go to a man.
just because a woman has what we have, doens't mean she knows as much!

man---I don't know why. I had a woman and didn't like her. Now I have a man and he is soooo nice. I was shy at first because he is really good looking, but I got over that real quick.

come to think of it, my male dr. is much more sensitive than the woman was. Plus, she had a bad attitude. But, I don't work well with other women...I thought it was just me

THAT is the most important thing. Especially if you are having an issue that needs attention. Just get it checked out, then if you feel uncomfortable, you don't have to go back to him. I have a male gyno who has delivered 9 of my neices and nephews. They all loved him and I plan on using him when my turn comes :)

I prefer a man but I've had both so it's no biggie. Just one of those things us girls have to go through
