A little skeeved . . . (re: hair trial)

A little skeeved . . . (re: hair trial)

You may view me as OCD, neurotic, whatever, but I have a hair trial on the monday after X-Mas and I was told not to wash my hair the morning of the trial. I wash my hair everyday, since my hair tends to get a teensy bit oily at the roots at night, so I am far from thrilled about this. Also, I can't imagine NOT having my hair cleanly washed on my wedding day! I know clean hair is harder to work with and all, but I am still a bit 'skeeved' about this. (Yes I know this may be my own issue and I might be a bit dramatic about this, but please bear with me )

I can completely understand this. But the hair has it's own natural oils which are better to work with for styling!

i think they say the hair will set better if the hair isn't washed that day

I just went through the same thing today- and I know what you mean- I mean.. you can take shower- just don't wash your hair- you'll have so much product in it- and it will look amazing no one will be able to tell that you didn't wash it.

I feel the exact same way, I can't possibly imagine not washing my hair on the biggest day of my life...What are these people thinking??? lol :)

But if it means my hair looks absolutley amazing for the biggest day of my life then I'll have to suck it up one day in my life.

There is a little trick you can try though. I find that if I run some baby powder through my hair that it absorbs some of the oil. That might make you feel a little better about the whole not washing your hair thing.

You are so right, and I have tried that trick, and probably will use it . . .

And OMG of course I would take a shower, do you really want to see me go crazy?

My stylist told me to do whatever I feel comfortable doing and that she could work with my hair whether it was freshly washed or a day old.

I hate not washing my hair. My hair actually looks ok when it's not washed, but I never feel as fresh when I don't get my scalp wet.

I am the SAME EXACT WAY Bri, I had a trial yesterday and I washed my hair in the morning. My whole body feels dirty if I don't wash my hair. My hair stayed put all day and night after the trial and it was freshly washed. Don't worry, just wash it!

I hear ya Bribri! I am the same way. I must wash my hair. I plan on washing my hair for the trial and the day of. I can't not wash it. She can just add lots and lots of product...LOL

My hair is the same way. The hair will definitely stay better if your hair is a little dirty though. Trust me once it is done you can't even see it

my stylist said that i can wash it the day of-- she wouldnt hold me back from doing it. She said she used enough product in it that it wouldnt make a difference either way

maybe you could discuss this with yours??

when i get like that..i just put my hair under the water but dont use any shampoo.....i dunno if it makes a real difference but in my head, the oils are still there since i didnt use soap to clean them....but the warm water makes me feel clean

depending on what time you are getting ready...I took my shower at like 4am and we got to the salon at 6:30am. I am the same way with my showers...I can't leave the house without taking one....my hair is pin straight and fine so it looks nasty in the mornings without being washed

Yeha, when we went for Neenies trial... her stylist said that you CAN wash your hair the day of. (I HAVE oily hair too... and it looks 'greesy' if I don't wash it every day)... the Stylist said 'think about it, it you went to style your hair, and put a curling iron in, with oil on it, it would just be all greesy, and sometimes won't hold better b/c of it'... which makes sense, so I think the not-washing is just a Myth!

I'm TOTALLY washing my hair the Day-of! I will feel Dirty if i don't!

My suggestion is to Wash your hair before your trial, and then TEST IT, see how long it holds... if it comes out sooner than you wanted, try not-washing it. But if it lasts the proper amout of time, (which it SHOULD)... they NO worries!

OASN- I do use baby podwer at night sometimes to 'soak-up' oil on my roots, but it makes hair VERY staticy.

I asked my hair person about this and she was totally with me. She said she could not imagine not washing her hair on her wedding day and certainly doesn't expect me to do same. As long as my hair is dry by the time she gets to my house (4:45AM!!!) , I'm good to go!!!

hair holds better when it is not ewly clean...
wash it the night before...especially if you are getting it done at 4:45 am.

it is very soft after you wash it and tends not to hold.... i learned this the hard way

your hair will be full of crap anyway if it is up so you wont be able to see anything... it wont necessarily be dirty if you don't wash it for one day

it is not good to wash everyday anyway

I think you should wash it. I would feel the same way. I will not have dirty hair and scalp on my wedding day. I'm wearing my hair either all down, or half up and half down. I don't think in that case they would tell me not to wash it anyway.

Not to mention I've gotten my hair done a dozen times (all up dos) when I've been a BM and I've always taken a shower and washed my hair right before. I think it's just a stylist's preference.
