Even though I'm only 45 days away from my wedding, I was just curious what a candy bar is for the reception? I've heard of it from many people but I've never seen one. What are they and where do you get them?

Re: A little slow....
They are similar to other food 'bars' that you've heard of: mashed potato bars, raw bars, even vodka bars. It's a big (usually long, bar-like) table with a large selection of candy placed in a visually-pleasing layout. Guests are given favor bags to fill up with the selection of their choosing. Many people will have the candy chosen based on color to coordinate with their event, or choose containers for the candy to go with their theme. There are some outside companies that you can hire to do this, or many people do it themselves.

Do you know some of the companies off hand that do it? Is it very expensive?

Re: A little slow....
We had a candy bar at our reception and our venue provided all of the 'wrapped' (full size candies like, Hershey Bars, 3 Muskteers, suttf like that) candy. My DH and I prefer unwrapped candy, like fruit slices and Mike and Ikes, m & m's, so they let us supplement what they provided by bringing in our own candy and jars/scoops to display.

A little slow....
Oh, and we did this as part of our favor and had a big thank you sign and put labels on the candy bags given out

Ask your venue. Some venues already do this. If you decide to do it on your own, just double check that the venue allows you to bring outside food aka candy. Some have a strict policy! HTH!
