Please don't quote my post, as I don't know if she's on the boards here too.
DH's friend's wife sent me a gift for my shower that arrived broken at my parent's house. We went through the whole process of sending it back to the warehouse (we couldn't return it in a store) and getting a credit towards future merchandise.
His wife ended up giving me another shower gift, and gave it to me in passing (she didn't come to the shower). She's now asking for the merchandise credit back from her first gift.
I feel really uncomfortable about the situation. Should I give her the merchandise credit back? What do you guys think?

I'm confused, did she know the 1st one was broken? Why did she give you another and want the credit? Why not just let you make another purchase with the credit

Re: A little uncomfortable situation
She sent the first one right before my shower and found out it was broken shortly after it arrived to the house.
She gave me the new gift a moth later, after I had already gone through the return. She didn't ask me for the credit back when she gave me the second gift.
It's been a few months since I received the 1st and second gifts.

if she went and replaced the itme that was broken originally, just give her back the merchandise credit.

i would say give it back. she got you something else...maybe she thought she had to be the one doing the exchange and that she would get a credit
I would give her the credit, but I think it's beyond strange that she's asking for it back.

What if you had used it already? I don't see why she got you another gift if you had the credit.

This is why I dont understand why ppl cant just pick up the phone??? If she found out it was broken a few days later, then a call asking what approach you wanted to take would have been best. So odd. I'd give her the credit if you have it. Why did you bother taking the second gift?
