So, if you are a visual person and you can picture this going on, you will laugh your *** off! Here it goes...

I am deathly afraid of spiders. It doesn't matter where they are, if I see one, I FREEZE. Well, last year, in our apartment, we found a strange looking bug. The front of it looked like a spider and the back looked like a cricket. The first time we saw this bug, it was crawling on the rug and I was grossed out, so FH grabbed a tissue and went to go kill it... WELL, it started JUMPING all over the room (like a cricket) and we both freaked out. I told our landlord, she called the exterminator and we haven't seen one since, well, until this morning and here is where the hysteria began...

I was sitting on the floor in front of my mirror doing my make-up. Fh had just left and I was going to leave in about 10 minutes. As I am sitting there, out of the corner of my eye, I see this big nasty bug crawling towards me. I freaked out, jumped up and froze. I stood there, in my little boy short underwear and tank top thinking, 'oh sh!t, what the hell am I going to do. I figured that I had to kill it (there was no way i was going to work with that thing in my apartment all day) so I look in my closet for something to step on it with... nothing but flip flops, and that sucker was too big for a flip flop. I then saw my uggs... I put them on (yes, at this point i have on underwear, uggs and a tank top) and i walk behind the bug (so he can't see me) and i lift up my leg to step on it, and it starts hopping all over the place. Now, I am screaming at the top of my lungs. Finally, the bug stops hopping and i throw a towel over it -- yes, I am talking about a bath towel -- and i can see it hopping under the towel. I jump on top of the towel like mad and hope to God that I killed that little sucker. I was too scared to look, so the towel is still on the bedroom floor.

I called FH to tell him because I was so proud of myself and he was proud too. he asked me what garbage i threw the dead bug in and I told him, 'what are you, nuts?!?!?! It's still on the floor under the towel, you have to pick it up when you get home.' He just sighed and laughed.

I found this quite amusing, hopefully it will give you a little a.m. chuckle, too

At least you girls can have your FH kill the bugs for you.

My FH doesn't do it properly and the bug always ends up gettting way. So its all maimed and pis*ed off and I am convinced its gonna get me...lol

So I usually kill them myself. B/C I REALLY Kill them. I have a whole system involving paper towel, tape and a broom handle....LOL

I swear FH doesn't get to them fast enough so they get away and I scream more!

The bug is a camel back cricket....they're all over LI...my friend lives in a basement apt and they live in the walls GROSS!!!

that is totally nasty... our apt is above ground, but the bedroom is in the basement, so i guess that is why we only see them down there. I'm glad someone knows what the heck it is...

sounds interesting!!! I have that exact theory... if you don't kill it the first time, it WILL come and find me and eat me in my sleep!

yeah- but you gotta be quick and tape the paper towel to the broom handle. Then you stab and swirl so you know you got em...lol. Its great for those ceiling walkers..lol.. eeewww

It wasn't bravery... I was more scared about not knowing where it was when i got home than trying to kill it...

LOL I totally understand - I'm petrified of bugs but I also can't kill them b/c I hate to feel that 'crunch'... but Crickets are good luck when they're in the house at least!

I know exactly what bug you are talking about. They are so nasty....But your story was really funny and I totally pictured u in your boy shorts and uggs...

That is the worst part of a spider/bug attack...if it gets away, you don't know where it will be lurking later on!!!! PS: That bug was HORRIBLE!!!!!!

this happened to me and my roomate in college, our freshman year at Old Westbury...there was a HUGE spider, you could see its eyes and it was hairy, like a tarantula...we were both jumping up and down on our beds screaming bloody murder...My roomate grabbed the biggest textbook she could find and dropped it on the bug...we LEFT it there until we could get someone else to come get it for us!!! I slept with the covers over my head that whole semester. I HATE bugs.

OMG i'd totally do the same thing!!

we have house centipedes which are like evil spiders of doom but not spiders at all and i totally freak out...
i scream whenever i see one and i hide because i read somewhere that they like to hide under ladies' skirts and i'm always wearing a skirt when i see them so i know they are plotting to get me.
i jump on tables and stuff just to get away from them.

the other day i called FH from on top of the table crying telling him to hurry home and had to explain it was b/c of a bug.
he laughed and rushed home to save me.

Honey.. they are called SPOCKERS...

It's a cross between a spinder and a grass hopper...

Don't ask.. my mother named them last year when she had some in the basement... I still won't go down there when I go over there!!!!

Ahhh you are so brave for killing that! I think I probably would've just called up FH crying and made him come back to kill it, lol... he still has this voicemail saved on his phone from over 2 years ago when I was staying at his apartment and there was a bee in there, and I didn't know what to do! So I called him up freaking out! When he didn't answer because he was at work, I just left and went out shopping... I couldn't stay in the apartment with that! We couldn't find it later, and never found it again, I guess it got back out! He like plays the voicemail to annoy me every once in a while!

I would have freaked out! I am the same way as you - if I see a spider anywhere I freeze! I found a spider in my room last week and it took me about 30 min to try and talk myself into killing it because no one was home. Then thankfully my mom came home and I made her kill it - she made fun of me for it but I don't care I just can't go near any spiders!
