A long long vent about dmv! Had to get it out!

I am sooo mad and theres nothing I can do about it I guess.

I needed to renew my drvers license before my birthday in March so I went to the dmv in Whitestone yesterday. I figured I would have my name changed at the same time since I havent gotten around to it yet. I was concerned because I havent gone to SS to change my name yet but I called DMV, went to their website, talked to girls on here and got the same answer..it doesnt matter, you do not need your new ss card to change your name on your license. So ok..I go...first they send me to the camera station..the girl gives me the option of taking a new picture or not..I actually like my old one so I say no..she looks over my paper, gives me a number and I go to wait for almost 2 hours. They finally call my number, I go to the desk, to a nice guy, who asks me why they didnt take my picture. I say the girl said I didnt have to. He says thats totally wrong since I am changing my name and sends me back over to the camera station..

Now he tells me to skip the line because hes going to wait for me at his desk..ugh..now I have like 28074028974 people with their panties in a bunch cause I skipped them and then the girl tries to throw her mistake off on me..telling me I didnt have that part of the form filled out earlier..I SO DID! And I told her that too..ugh..so she takes my pic..

Now I go back to the guy, cant even walk cause of the flash of the camera..andof course at this exact time he asks me to take the eye test...I cant see anything, only white dots everywhere so I am struggling here. So I do that, give him my marriage license as proof and hes taking forever..ugh what now?!? So he calls over a supervisor who is the nastiest ***** i have ever met and she starts telling me you cant change your name, you need youe new ss card and all of this crap..so I am like..going off now, telling her I spoke to people there, that its not on their website, and she basically tells me in not so many words to shut up cause im not getting my name changed today..OMG I AM LIVID NOW..
So th guy was sweet and was just telling me to renew it for now and then to come back..come back??! Are you kidding me?!?!?! BUt what was there left to do? So i renewed with a new pic which i didnt want in the first damn place...

Then I get home call 311 and check the website again and of course just like I Said...its not necessary to have your new social security card to change your name..only your marriage license. That ***** had it out for me and now there is nothing I can do about it at all!

I am HEATED!

*sidenote*...at least i got my BLOOD TEST YESTERDAY! lol

Ugh! That is so frustrating!! I'm sorry about your bad experience. The DMV is the most miserable place on Earth.

I know you you two mean..
Here's my horrific expereince with them...

Even when I first went for my permit, I went through smoothly. I filled out ALL my papers beforehand. I got all my ID and my Birth Certifiacte ready. (Now I have to tell you.. I'm adopted and I don't have a REAL BC.. it's sealed by the State). All I have is a statement issued by the NYS court issueing custody to my parents with my birthdate on it.

I called the place where I was adopted from and they told me to use that as my BC.

Long story short.. I go through everything.... standing in a long line for like an hour... taking the test... vision test... I finally go up to pay to get it.. and THEN they start debating me on whether my ID is good.

I'm also named after my Dad, so there was a deabte on whether that ID was acceptable. My SS card shows me with the name 'Jr.' But I never use it. I never thought to to be honest.

I debated and I got the permit.. but only because I brought like 10 items of ID, when I only needed like 4.. I barely made it.

I hate the DMV.

I got married at city hall got a piece of paper with a signature no real seal and walked over to DMV the next day and got my named changed, no problem. Just needed my birth certificate, ss card (old name) and marriage license and old Driver's license. THEN I went over to the SS office to change my name there.

DMV = 1 hour
SS Office = 10mins

go fig!

SS Office told me they really needed a REAL marriage license.. (with pretty gold seal) I said I didnt have it as I just got married yesterday (at the time) and so they said, well it looks official and that was that. *shrug*

I feel for you!

DMV, especially the one on herrald sqr in the city is the nastiest place on earth, full of lazy a$$ b**ches who you have to fight for EVERYTHING!
