Ok, Can I just say I have HAD IT WITH MY MOTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I emailed her some pictures of wedding dresses that I like, and she emails me back, 'They're very nice, honey, but you could never fit into anything like that.' Who says that to their daughter???????? Everytime I want to go look at dresses, which is not often since I live 4 hours away, she says to me,'I think you have about 20lbs to lose before you even think about looking at a dress.' I have told her to stop over and over, and she is just so awful to me when it comes to my weight. I'm not even that overweight, I am just so aggravated. She will never ever change. I knew this would happen because she's been telling me since I was 10 that I am fat, no matter how much weight I lose, there's always those 'few extra pounds' that she has to point out. I just give up.

Re: A MOM VENT
That is such a shame that your mother puts so much pressure on you and is making you self concious. Remind her that this is YOUR wedding and YOUR special day, and to please not let her ruin it for you! If you want me to straighten her out for you I will LOL! Go enjoy trying dresses on and you pick out the dress that you feel most beautiful in!!!!

my god that is horrible! I don't know anything else to tell you. But in order to help yourself, I would not include your mother in the dress picking.

Re: A MOM VENT
My mother said the same thing to me. So I said back. 'I have started a new diet for the wedding.' she got very excited...'I wanted to see how much weight I could gain before the wedding!' She got so upset and said that I shouldn't do that. My mother only sees my fat not me so she got it back!

Re: A MOM VENT
Better than mine I got you beat. Mine goes back and forth - she has told me in the past I won't go and look with you until you lose 50lbs. Then she also said and we won't pay for photo and video until you lose either. Makes me so mad when SHE KNOWS that they think it is my thyroid and I have to go for further tests

Christine: I have met you and I think you're perfect JUST THE WAY you are. If you lost 50lbs you'd be invisible!!!

Re: A MOM VENT
you go and get the dress you love.
To add to October's post, go without your mom but with your MOH or a cousin or something and when you find the dress you love, purchase it.
Now here's the kicker, find the most ugliest, poofiest dress you could possible find. remake of the 80's type dress. maybe the dress Laura wore when she married luke on GH (I was a baby, but you gotta love soapnet) and tell her that is the dress you love and you're going to wear.
Then when she flips show her a pic of you in the dress you really did choose.
Maybe that will fix her....
You'll look gorgous no matter what you choose

Re: A MOM VENT
Totally agree with october! Perhaps you should cut her out of giving her input on major decisions. You will look fantastic! I know its your mom, but people who say such unkind things are truly unhappy individuals themselves! When your mother wonders why you don't want to share, remind her of the old adage'If you can't say anything nice don't say it at all'. You should not be robbed of the joy of all your wedding plans for one second! I am so upset for you, but please ignore her and enjoy yourself. Bottom line: the day is all about Y-O-U and what you want it to be!

Re: A MOM VENT
I am sorry that she said that to you. That is awful! Just remember if you are happy with how you look and your FI then that is ALL that matters. I have been to many weddings (brides of all sizes) and with the exception of the one that looked like an upside down pineapple (i swear) everyone one of them looked beautiful. Oct & the other girls are right take your MOH and friends and go! Enjoy yourself and don't listen when people are being negative!

Re: A MOM VENT
I would say go with a friend to get a dress, she will only upset you when trying on the dresses and it is supposed to be a good exprerience.
I am so sorry that you mom has made you feel bad.

Re: A MOM VENT
Ha, my mom is like that too... And I am not even overweight by any measures that I have seen...
After making a bunch of weight comments during my last visit, I told mom, that unless she stops making them I will not visit home again... This threat worked (so far).

Re: A MOM VENT
I don't know what to say.... I am soo sorry your mom keeps putting you down... and to all the other ladies with the same problem... I just don't understand what goes through their heads sometimes... I guess the easiest thing to say is to try and ignore her and like others have said bring your MOH or another honest friend and start your search...
A bride is beautiful, no matter what shape or size!!!
Cut your mother off, if she doesn't stop, no more input from her!!!
