Anyone want to say a few words on this remark made by Kerry?

Re: 'A More Sensitive War on Terror'
From CNN:
Last Thursday, Kerry told minority journalists at the Unity 2004 conference in Washington that 'I believe I can fight a more effective, more thoughtful, more strategic, more proactive, more sensitive war on terror that reaches out to other nations and brings them to our side.'

Well, maybe he means he won't go on TV and say things like 'Country X and Y and Z....they're all part of the AXIS OF EVIL..' I mean, really, who uses the term axis of evil in real life? Oh, that's right....our ridiculous excuse for a president does!

Re: 'A More Sensitive War on Terror'
I just want to post Lynne Cheney's response to it:
'With all due respect to the senator, it just sounded so foolish,' she said. 'I can't imagine that al Qaeda will be impressed by sensitivity.'
She went on to say Kerry's comment was an expression of an 'extreme left' idea that Americans bear responsibility for the terrorism now threatening them.
''If we'll just adjust our attitude' seems to be the idea,' she said. 'This is the kind of left-wing foolishness that certainly isn't appropriate for someone who would seek to be commander-in-chief.'
Seems to have a point, no?

Re: 'A More Sensitive War on Terror'
This was discussed on Salon.com:
Today, Cheney seized on a Kerry comment last week in which he said that America should fight 'a more effective, more thoughtful, more strategic, more proactive, more sensitive war on terror that reaches out to other nations and brings them to our side and lives up to American values in history.' Cheney locked on to 'sensitive,' and he suggested that what Kerry meant was bringing some kind of 'free to be me you and me approach' to al Qaida. 'A sensitive war will not destroy the evil men who killed 3,000 Americans,' Cheney said in remarks prepared for delivery in Ohio. 'The men who beheaded Daniel Pearl and Paul Johnson will not be impressed by our sensitivity.' The Kerry campaign complained that Cheney was distorting what Kerry had actually meant, which was that the U.S. could use some sensitivity in bringing allies to its side. And the Kerry campaign noted that Bush himself has called for the United States to be 'sensitive' when it comes to dealing with other countries.
I think it's pretty clear that Kerry made an intelligent that is being twisted, as usual.

Again, is it any stupider than 'axis of evil' or 'smoke them out of their caves'? I mean really, we have one wannabe cowboy and one wannabe sensitive ponytail man. They both suck. I maintain THAT.

Sigh...
My bottom line is: 1) I think it's a damn tough job running the USA... 2) I'm not sure any citizen is really, truly up to the task...

I mean, I just picture you talking all serious about politics with that hat.
ETA: Maybe what our president needs is a bow hat! I mean, how can terrorists attack people with bow hats on???

Re: 'A More Sensitive War on Terror'
I think he meant not to push away countries that could be our allies.
He didn't word it right - if that was what he meant.
ETA: the more I read the statement the more I think that is what he meant - not to be sensitive in fighting the war but not deal so harshly with countries that can be our potential allies. I have always felt that the US has this 'be with us 100% or we don't want anything to do with you' policy and I think that Kerry is trying to say 'lets not push these countries away because they don't necessarily think the way we are fighting the war is correct'.
Maybe I am off base but that's how I view it.
And also, don't forget that now that the election is so close, anything that one candidate says will be twisted by the opponant, which then gets diseminated by the media as misinformation. If Cheney starts going off on one word of a whole statment and the media tapes his speech while what Kerry said may have been an off the cuff remark that not many media outlets showed on TV, then of course all we'll hear about is Cheney's view. And vice versa.

Re: 'A More Sensitive War on Terror'
Actually I would think Bush would be sensitive to other countries in that he is in the Saudi's back pocket!!!
What do people thing he means- sensitive in terms of giving terrorists back massages?
people are damn stupid- of course he means fighting a war on terror that takes into account that this is a worldwide fight, not a function of the US alone.
