A Night we'll NEVER FORGET **MIL UPDATE** NOT GOOD
Hi Ladies, so it was tough without DH's Mom not being able to attend the wedding but we got through it. It was a day filled with so many emotions that at the end of the day we were just drained. We made the best of it under the circumstances but it just wasn't the same without her there. After it was all over, which did fly by, we went back to FIL's house. Everyone got comfy and after a bit DH's cousin comes inside and asked DH, his brother, his SIL and myself to go out into the yard because FIL needed to talk to us. We didn't know what was happening but we figured it couldn't be too good. We sat with him and he and DH's sister tell us that MIL has been diagnosed with Leukemia. They knew since Thursday but she made them promise not to tell us because she knew that we would have canceled the wedding. This hit us like a ton of bricks, we cryed hysterically and still cannot believe that this is happening. DH is devasted, and FIL just seems so lost right now. It's the hardest thing to have to watch and not be able to help them is killing me. She started chemo yesterday and it's going to be a long road but we're trying to stay positive and praying that she will be OK. Some ending to what should have been a perfect day huh. . Our daughter is just crushed and the hardest part is that she's to young to understand the depth of what is really happening. She's just as close with her as DH is so this has been so difficult. My Mom saw her (my daughter) yesterday and says to me that she looks like someone just flipped a switch and turned somthing off inside her. She hasn't been herself in days and we're just trying to get through this one day at a time.
Please keep us and MIL in your thoughts and prayers because lord knows we need it right now. I'll keep ya'll posted when I can.
ETA ***UPDATE:
First I want to say Congrats to all of you that have tied the knot in the past 2 weeks, I miss you all so much.
Well I wish I had better news to share with you all but the past 2 weeks have been a living hell. MIL is in ICU on life support and the Doctors told us yesterday that her chances of survival are really slim right now. They started the chemo last week and just after a couple of days she developed phenumonia, and a few days after that she had to be put on a dialysis machine because her kidneys were starting to shut down. We are all just devasted by all of this, no warning, nothing it all just happened. Just 1 week before the wedding she was on vacation with our 4 yr. old and now we don't know if she's going to make it. Unfortunalty our wedding is the last thing on our minds, it honeslty feels like we never got married. I told DH that for our 5 year anniversary I want a redo, he just laughed and said 'no problem, we'll have a redo at 5 yrs, 10 yrs, 15 years and so on'. Before MIL was put on life support she told him to promise that if anything happened that she wanted to be buried in the dress that she had gotten for the wedding which she never got to wear.
Girls please keep us and MIL in your prayers because at this point there is nothing else left for us to hang on to. All we can do is hope and pray.
