if you want a beach/tropical destination, you can do a Caribbean cruise. a few places that have reasonably priced resorts are Cancun, Cabo, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, etc.

Re: A not so expensive HM
definitely do a cruise
i've cruised 3 times and each time it was less than $2000 INCLUDING air! you could even cruise to bermuda out of NY
the nice thing about them is that food is included. that saves so much.
if you have any questions about caribbean cruises, let me know...i've been to almost every island by cruising!

i posted the same question on the vendors board recently. we want 7 days, all inclusive, sunny, beaches good for snorkling, NO cruises...leslie from travel solutions was the only TA to reply. she suggeted aruba, mexico, bahamas, and jamaica. i asked her for quotes for aruba resorts (i don't want to risk hurricanes) and she will be getting back to me this week. if you want you can email her for quotes @ [email protected]. good luck! let me know what you end up doing, because i am in the same budget-boat. ~lacey

Re: A not so expensive HM
Try the Dominican Republic...FH and I went to La Romana in April. We stayed at the Canoa Coral by Hilton. It was all-inclusive and we paid about $200 per night for a very nice room w/balcony, sitting area, kitchen, etc. The food wasn't great, but I heard that the Iberostar (which is right next door) has much better food, and isn't too much more per night.
The beaches were gorgeous, and we had a ton of fun despite the food.
HTH!

Costa Rica, Belize, Roatan.
the dollar goes very far in that region and the culture, beaches, and food are fantastic!

Re: A not so expensive HM
Our HM to Aruba - 5 nights - including airfare, hotel + breakfast was around $2600, and food and excursions was around $500, so it's right around your budget.
Other possibilities: Dominican Republic, Punta Cana seems fairly economical, as does Jamaica. I've heard NEgril in Jamaica is beautiful.

Re: A not so expensive HM
Look into DR, Cancun/Riviera Maya, Jamaica and Puerto Vallarta. You would be able to do an all-inclusive package ny of those places within your budget.
