A preist for the ceremony

I am having an interfaith ceremony at the reception site. We will have a rabbi and a priest, although I am not a practicing catholic.
I called the Diocese and they told me contact my parish
I am basically looking for some advice on how to approach the church, where I am not a parish member, and do not attend. Any suggestions ?

Re: A preist for the ceremony

I had to get permission from my church to be married in another parish. Also, we have a friend that is a priest that we wanted to perform our wedding who also did not belong to this parish. It all ended up fine but if we could not get the church we wanted we were considering getting married on the reception site and our priest told us that very few priests will perform a ceremony outside of a church. But they may be able to be present and witness your ceremony. Hope I helped. Sorry so long Edited to say go to the church where you received your last sacrament if possible.(ie.baptism,communion,confirmation,)

Re: A preist for the ceremony

Vickalina

One of the problems is that I was born in Ireland and received all my sacrements there, so I don't really have that option

But thanks anyway

Re: A preist for the ceremony

Maybe you can explain that to the church you are interested in. I am sure they would be happy to help.

Re: A preist for the ceremony

Dubliner you might have to contact the church where you were baptized. I am using a Priest from another parish and I had to get a copy of my baptismal certificate and give it to the Priest in order for him to get a dispensation for us to be married. We are also an interfaith couple. Please dont let anyone convince you that you cant have a Priest just call all the parishes in the area and ask. It took quite a few calls but eventually I found someone who does preform interfaith ceremonies. Here is the link for the Rockville Centre Diocese and from there you can get phone numbers of all parishes in the area to call: http://www.drvc.org/
