What am I supposed to do, when he has no family to go to the wedding? He feels horrible about it and I told him not too. That everyone was there for us...and that means both of us. But, he thinks that people will only be there for me, since it's mostly my family and a few of our friends. His mother hasn't been in his life since he was 13 and he doesnt have a father...Does anyone have any ideas as to what could possibly help mend this? We are NOT having sides at the wedding, or any seating arrangements for the guests. I don't know what else to do though. I hate seeing him this sad....It kills me.

Re: A problem on his side....
Sorry to hear your FH is sad Has he been at his job for a long time though? My FH has a REALLY small family compared to mine so we thought we'd be in a similar situation. The thing is, though, he's been at his job for 14+ years (he started p/t when he was just 16!) so in the end we wound up inviting almost everyone there and his 1/2 of the guest list nearly equal to mine. If he's been there for a while, maybe you can encourage him to invite more coworker friends to beef his 1/2 up a bit? It may make him feel better...

Re: A problem on his side....
ALL of my family live in another country.......we had 132 guests attend our wedding.......5 of them were my family. The rest was my DH's family and our friends. It was really hard on me before the wedding.....but I knew my family couldn't afford to travel internationally......so I know what he is feeling.......... He just has to remember that your family is his family too and they are there for the both of you.........at the end of the day, he will be happy and married to you!! But I do have to say that he is going to feel sad no matter what.....but just do what you can to lift his spirits in any way........ Good luck!

To me, family is the people that are special in your life and that doesnt necessarily mean they're relatives Sometimes friends are you family. And i think the great part of marriage is that your creating your own family - hopefully your FH will realize that the most important family he has will be sitting right next to him on your wedding day. Good luck!

Re: A problem on his side....
i have almost the same situation as you. my FH lost both his parents, which will be hard enough... but he has no family, i mean he will have a handful.. he decided to just invite friends to make up for it.. and it makes him happy , so im happy!!!
maybe you can do something like that, just invite more friends than you normally would!

Re: A problem on his side....
We tried that....but no one is able to make it or said they won't....He's dealing with everything much better now. We had a very long talk about it, and we both decided that ultimately it doesn't matter who shows and who doesn't as long as we end up man and wife we'll both be happy!
