A Q for the 2010 brides

Has the economy affected your wedding planning? How? Are you doing things differently?

Yeah same here, nothing has changed, I think I am more worried about losing my job or something like that. I work in finance, so its a little scary bc you never know.

Yes it has...It prompted me to get 2 other part time jobs in addition to the full time job I have.
We are going to have to cut corners here or there, but we know alot of people who are vendors for things we need (florists...hair...dj...limo etc) so that helps

I agree with everyone else, as of now not yet, but i think its also because i have all my major vendors booked. So i'm just keeping my fingers crossed that i still keep a job.

Nothing has really changed with us except for the fact that fh's job is a lot harder and stressful now because he works in the mortgage business

I would say yes. I work in the financial industry and Lehman was one of my company's biggest clients. Yesterday they let go of 5 people. I am afraid i could be next if it doesnt get any better.

That being said, i am really going to start cutting back on my budget when looking at vendors. For instance, i am looking at florists, but even though i really like high cp's, i am going to ask for low cp's only because i know it will save me a lot.

Jenny - are you getting married in the evening or afternoon, if you are getting married in the evening why don't you DIY candle centerpieces that is what I am doing and I am saving a bundle. Do you have anyone good with flowers because I am having my nana do all of my bo-ks

I am having a daytime wedding although the candles would be nice if i was having a night time wedding! I don't know anyone that could do my flowers though. Thats great that your nana is putting them together for you! Its always good to have someone crafty like that in the family! :)

Maybe you should look into something other than flowers for your CP. I feel lucky that I am the type of girl that hates flowers!!!

It hasnt affected me yet. I am just hoping it doesnt affect my job (technology) and FH's (construction).

Nope. FH & I both have high demand jobs so we're set.

Not yet. Hopefully it wont. FH is going to be an english teacher so that shouldnt really change bc of the economy and I'm going to be working in a hospital as an RD. We figure that no matter how bad the economy is, there are still going to be schools and hospitals.

Not yet and I'm praying it doesn't. We were budget conscious from the get go so we aren't too worried. We are figuring that both of our tax refunds will cover a large portion of our wedding. I have extra money taken out every week to make sure i get a nice return.
