A question about your wedding day

A question about your wedding day

At the wedding I attended last night, the bride and groom were always within arm's reach of each other. I thought that was so nice and that's the way it should be. When I told fh he was almost a bit irked....he told me I'll have to stand next to him while he does shots with his friends! I'm all for both of us having a great time at the wedding with all of our friends but the day is about US getting married. I can understand leaving for a few minutes here and there but I dont want to be across the room from him the whole day!

So, have you discussed if you are going to stick together for the majority of your wedding day? Does it matter to you if your fh goes off with his friends?

Well I totally understand everything you are saying and would love it for my day. BUT, Ant doesnt dance and I LOVE too. So with that we will be together but, not the whole time. Oh and you know he smokes so he'll be outside alot as well, .

We were together most of the time. I had to be re-bustled so he wasnt with me. But yes for most of the night we close to each other.

I started talking to FH about this, but mostly it's me I'm worrying about running around trying to talk to and entertain everyone there to the point that FH and I won't be spending too much time together at our wedding.

Plus, he doesn't really like to dance and I do... I don't know.

So I guess I'm worried about it a little because I want to enjoy our day together. Fortunately, we have a sweethearts table so they'll be plenty of times we'll be near each other, even if we spread out from time to time.

We did get that advice and we really loved it...not that we have discussed it though- LOL
I think naturally we'll be by each other's side all day and night though.

We were together for pretty much the whole night. DH doesn't normally dance either like a few people mentioned but he danced the whole night of our wedding because he didn't want to miss any of the party!

i dont think we will be glued to each other all night..there will be times where he goes with the boys and i go with the girls but i would say for 75% of the time we would be together.....hey he better get use to it now right?

We usually are together, but when his frat brothers start up their stuff, I am all about letting him do his own thing. Just as I will have my moments away from him.

If I had to estimate a % of the amount of time we were together I would say it was about 65-75%... We ate together obviously and greeted our guests together but we also went off on our own ways. I danced with FIL and he danced with my mom and we also visited with our friends for a bit. Towards the end of the night is when we split up the most because I was concerned with handing out tips and stuff and he was chatting with his guy friends.

we have discussed this and we both agreed that this isnt a typical party where FH hangs with friends and I hang with my friends. We are going to stick together and we are even telling our bartender no shots.

I completely agree. I went to a wedding last night and the bride was constantly asking, 'wheres my husband'??....I definitly dont want that to be me.

We have discussed this and we WANT to be by each others' side at all times! We both dance, and we really want to be together all night. Also we're not having shots at our wedding so no worries about that lol. We're not really gonna start boozing it up til the afterparty which is from 1am to 3am at the Royalton. We need to be able to speak, and not be wasted during the reception!

Re: A question about your wedding day

This has been a point of contention for us also. He wants to do what he does at every other wedding...stand outside with a drink and smoke cigars. His biggest fear is I'm going to drag him around to talk to all my family and spend the whole night greeting everyone. After going to a friends wedding recently he seems to have gotten some perspective but still...not much. I'm not happy with this at all but I dont want him to be attached to my side all night either. Who knows what will really happen.

The way me and FH are we are both very social, he mingles by himself and so do I with other groups. Eventually we regroup and hang out together. I think at the wedding we will do a little bit of both.

I think whatever works best for a couple in a social situation will work on their wedding night.

FH has expressed to me that he does want to be next to me the entire night.

Aw Gloria my FH too! He was like 'Baby I can't wait to just follow your beautiful a.ss around all night' it was the freaking cutest thing ever!

Re: A question about your wedding day

We didn't spend that much time together actually - we were always running around and talking to people. At one point for probably a half hour, there was drama that he was taking care of and I was totally obvious to in fact.

Anyway, don't force it. If you're at each other's sides the whole night that's great and if it doesn't work out that way, you'll be having too much fun and/or be too busy to notice. It's the 65 years AFTER the wedding that count.

Re: A question about your wedding day

I think we should be together for the most part but I can't imagine not wandering a little bit at appropriate moments here and there. My uncle's wedding was the other extreme because they were never ever seen together and we don't want that! But I'm sure I'll be dancing with my friends and he'll be talking with his high school friends at various points.

FH and I will probably stick together for the most part...I can't imagine being apart from him too much that day. Its going to go by fast as it is.
