A low dosage of Xanax should help. At such a low dosage I wouldnt worry about the side effects. Try to realx, take deep breathes and focus on things one at a time.

What dosage did the doctor give you? I had a stress breakdown and the doc put me on .5mg of Xanax 3 times a day...now I only take .5 before bedtime (it helps me go to sleep).

The only side effect I experienced was a little bit of fatigue...but then again I was still under a lot of stress so the fatigue could have been that as well. Don't take it if you're going to drink alcohol...if you have any questions feel free to FM me. :)

as a sufferer of anxiety myself, i know EXACTLY what you're going through.

i was having chronic pain and pressure in my head a couple of years ago, and i went to see a bunch of different specialists. it turned out to be musculoskeletal! there was so much tension in my neck and shoulders (stress related), it was radiating to the back and front of my head and face, causing these awful headaches!

the best thing to do is to find a good physical therapist. you may need a prescription, depending on your insurance, but, trust me, the relief will be worth the hassle.

i hope you feel better! try to relax, do some yoga, meditation and take care of those tight muscles!

GOOD LUCK!

Im a therapist so perhaps I can shed a little light. Do not be fearful of the prescription. Xanex was prescribed to you to do just that, 'take the edge off' so to speak. Dosages begin around .25 mg. Some people may take one during the day and one at night depending on their levels of anxiety. It is not something you will have to take forever. You will not gain weight or fall asleep instantaneously with such a low dose. It is just to take the edge off and relieve the stuffiness, pressure, dizziness (faint) feelings you may be experiencing.

Any other questions PLEASE FM me. Consider light exercise each day as well. Studies show moderate exercise is just as effective as anti-depressants (which are often prescribed to those with anxiety as well).

I have is as an 'as needed' prescription...

The 1st time I took it, I felt loopy!!! Never drink alcohol when you are on it. It is actually dangerous to do so.

My FH is a pharmacy person...In a very Basic way.. what it does is cause all of your nerves which are all 'acting up' giving you that anxiety feeling, to calm down to that you feel back to 'normal' without shaking, jitters, flutters of thoughts, etc..

Let me know if you have any questions... If you take it as the doctor prescribed, you'll be fine!

One of my co-workers takes it b/c she had a late case of postpartum depression. She had a low dosage and it made her feel better, but eventually it wore off, so she needed a higher dosage.

Of course your situations are completely different, but it did help her.

.5 mg isn't much at all-it should really just ease things

when i need to 'relax' bc of the stress, i take between .5 and 1 mg

when im having anything medical done, i have to take 2 mgs..that makes me like comatose calm though, but it's the only way i can have anything done

i looooooove my xanax. i have a low dose of 0.25 mg and i only take it 'as needed' which is averaging once a month, and it really helps. i get really bad anxiety at times, to the point of vomiting and feeling faint, and it takes that edge off without making you feel loopy or blah. i truly think it will help you.
