a RD question that I DO NOT want to ask..

a RD question that I DO NOT want to ask..

we are trying to cut corners on the RD and keep it as cheap as possible... my mom thinks that we can do a cash bar. the people in our party are not huge drinkers and a lot of FH's family do not drink at all. i really dont like the idea of hosting a party where people have to pay for the bar. i think we should just cover the actual tab since it probably wont be THAT bad anyway. what do you all think??

What if you do beer and wine only? And cash bar for liquor?

I wouldn't bank of covering the tab because it can end up costing more than your actual party.

nothing wrong with a cash bar in my opinion!

I think it is tacky to have a cash bar at a rehearsal dinner for your wedding.

However, our place gave us the option to pay the tab at the end of the night, so if you dont have many drinkers then do that option!

We are doing unlimited wine and beer and will run a tab for everything else.

sorry but I have to agree I've read in ettiquite books that its never ok to have a cash bar at a party. I think having beer and wine will cut corners though!

How about you pay for their soft drinks and they pay for their liquor? I'm just thinking, if they are not huge drinkers, they may be content with the soda.

I have to agree with the girls who say its not right. Sorry but I am never comfortable with having a cash bar.

I would do beer and wine (and softdrinks of course). If someone wants other liquor, then I guess that would be on them. My cousin did this and it wasn't a problem at all - everyone was fine with the beer and wine that I know of.

The people who you think don't drink or rarely drink...MOST LIKELY WILL, because their not paying for it. In my opinion.....do the cash bar, and save yourself the grief of a huge tab. Good Luck.

If people going aren't huge drinkers and it's still $$ to have beer and wine included maybe run a tab.

You can ask to just have wine and beer, rather than high price liquors. That should keep the price down and still take care of your guests. I don't think it is right to make them pay, esp. since they are there to be in your wedding.

Have house wine and beer at the table. Tell the staff that is all people can ordd=er.

If not, cash bar is fine. I have been to plenty of places where that is the case.

We wanted to keep costs down and most of the people going are heavy drinkers. What worked out best for us was to include unlimited beer and wine for an additional $7 pp. we could have ran a tab but it would have been much more.

I don't like the idea of a cash bar. If nobody drinks much (and some don't drink at all) then just run the tab.. it probably won't be too high. Or just do wine and beer.

If you don't thave a lot of drinkers I would just have the RD keep a tab and pay it at the end...

I personally wouldn't have a cash bar, but I have been to weddings before that have had one... so its no big deal.

I plan on beer/wine/soda only.
