we are trying to cut corners on the RD and keep it as cheap as possible... my mom thinks that we can do a cash bar. the people in our party are not huge drinkers and a lot of FH's family do not drink at all. i really dont like the idea of hosting a party where people have to pay for the bar. i think we should just cover the actual tab since it probably wont be THAT bad anyway. what do you all think??

However, our place gave us the option to pay the tab at the end of the night, so if you dont have many drinkers then do that option!
HTH
I suggest you do this. Keep a running tab and then pay for it. It will be cheaper than the open bar if your family is not big drinkers.

We are going unlimited beer, wine and soda, that is it. I don't think a cash bar would look right, IMO

im sorry at this point im trying to cut costs everywhere- i think a cash bar is a great idea... you are providing them with food- if they want to go and get alcolhol then let them on their own... JMO

We are having a bottle of wine put on each table; we are not having open bar for RD; it's the night before the wedding and we don't want every to get wasted anyway, so IMO you don't need to have open bar cash bar is fine

Have house wine and beer at the table. Tell the staff that is all people can order.
If not, cash bar is fine. I have been to plenty of places where that is the case.
I agree

If people going aren't huge drinkers and it's still $$ to have beer and wine included maybe run a tab.
That's what I was going to suggest

If you need to cut corners I'd suggest the best idea may be to offer wine, beer, and soft drinks. I figure your still offering them alchol right?! My cousins bridal shower was cash bar and I don't know it was awkward.

What if you do beer and wine only? And cash bar for liquor?
I wouldn't bank of covering the tab because it can end up costing more than your actual party.
Thats what we did....well that was the plan but most ppl didnt drink anyways so it was like 5 drinks total after beer and wine...so we ended up paying for it!
