a registry question for the peekers....

a registry question for the peekers....

ok, fine I'm a really bad peeker... I admit it...

I think my shower will be in mid-may..... I know the invitations have gone out, and RSVPS are already coming in....

I'm getting pretty concerned at this point.... only 5 things have been purchased off my bloomies registry
you girls have all read me obsess about pots and cooking, so you can only imagine how important the china is to us! only the sugar bowl, creamer, and coffee pot have been purchased

A good portion of the china must be delivered from the main warehouse and shipped (takes about 4 days)... I'm getting worried that people will go the day before, not be able to take the item home ASAP, and then go off and get whatever

when do people buy stuff off the registry? how many people ignore the registry and go on their own?

I remember when my FSIL put out her registry...There were no gifts on the registry until about the day of the shower! I think ppl really start to buy things close to that date...so that should be a hint for u

oh no..... that would be bad in my case... with that shipping factor for my beloved china

maybe I should find a really subtle way to have the message spread that shipping is required for the china.... would that be tacky if they didn't know it came from me (say it came from a friend....)

wonder how I could do that....

Re: a registry question for the peekers....

thanks!

I'm a bloomies girl...

the rosenthal (glasses and china) you can get at bloomies or fortunoffs... They are fairly common patterns... The flatware, well that's a crazy story...

The flatware was VERY DIFFICULT to find. It's designed by modernist Arne Jacobsen and is made in Denmark. (I fell in love with it at a MoMa exhibit... this was the flatware in '2001 a space oddessy') Only Michael C. Fina, MoMa, and a few small discount importers could supply them.... but only until 12/31/06, when the manufacturer stopped selling to the US

Mom bought it for us last fall Only a mom could understand that this flatware blends my love of food / cooking with my love of modern design... and is therefore worth every bit of its inflated pricetag

I wouldn't worry too much about it. For my shower, alot of my china and flatware were shipped to us after the wedding. Most of the stuff the store did not keep in stock at the store....only at the main warehouse. We received cards with inserts from the store showing us when the items would be shipped.

If they are being shipped to you, I'm sure the packaging will be VERY good so your items are delivered safe and sound.......

PS. I don't think you should say anything to anyone about the shipping and what not........JMO

Dont worry, some things went off mine at first and ALMOST everything else went the day before!

Honestly don't worry about it. People are lazy and always wait till the last minute to get stuff. You'll be blessed with tons of gifts from your registry and then some!

I second that!
Did you register for anything besides china and flatware? I know everyones different but from my past experience most of the time a bride wont get a full set of her china or flat ware. Usually she'll get a few pieces but you can always return something else and complete the set if thats what matters most to you.
Dont worry though, like jenafee said, everyone will be rushing around the weekend before.

My shower is next sunday and things just started flying off!!! people wait until the last minute ( i do too though- i gotta admit!) however more things ARE coming off of my macys than my linens and things registry...

I wouldn't worry about it! In my experience most of the fine china things came from family members----so they won't feel awkward that they won't have it by the time of the shower.
I agree that you shouldn't say anything! People might get offended.

If the gift is not in stock, usually places will give the purchaser a card saying when the gift will arrive at your house. I would not be concerned.
