a registry update!

a registry update!

Last night FMIL called me to tell me to remove my china from Bed Bath and Beyond, bc she and her SIL are going to buy it from Macy's during a fabulous sale this week. (Buy 1 place setting, get a 2nd free... umm yes please!)

They are so generous and sweet, and thinking of what they want to get us 9 months ahead of the potential shower date. I honestly was a bit speechless when she called.

Anyway, I went to Macy's in Huntington (whitman mall) and met the NICEST bridal consultants in the Fine China area. Seriously, they were EXCITED to help (yes, it was a quiet Monday evening there lol) and walked me around the entire Home area to see what I needed/wanted.

I think FH was initially annoyed that I was going to create a 2nd registry bc he thinks the BBB registry is more than enough, but let me tell you, some of the perks at Macy's are pretty awesome. First, they give you money back on a gift card after your wedding, depending on how much was spent on you. Bonus! They also have the same type of rewards like BBB has, depending on what you have purchased (free knives, k cup holder etc).

I highly recommend Macy's at Whitman Mall if you haven't yet registered. It was a great experience!

ooo good to know about the china! I'll let my mom know- she's getting my china---I went to the macy's in herald square- it was nothing like the experience you had-it was like pulling teeth to get help/answers!

The trick is that it was a Monday evening, like 7:30pm. The price per setting is way higher than at BBB, but getting 2 for 1 and possibly using a coupon does make it cheaper in the end.

I have a Macys registry because I have the credit card, so the perks are fantastic! And, to be honest, my china is cheaper there than BBB. IF it's worth it for you, then definitely go for it! FH's just want the cash, but they don't understand that people WANT to give gifts for showers and engagements parties. (I think we have 5 scrapbooks, 6 vases, and countless picture frames now.)

That is VERY sweet of them! You have such great in-laws!

You can use that incentive at BBB. That is how I got all my china! You just bring in the AD to BBB and they will honor it and take 20% off!!!

I know, and I realize how fortunate I am.

Wow!!! That is such an amazing gift! I know exactly what sale you are talking about and that is the whole reason why I want to register at Macy's! Sometimes they will include some bonus items as well if you buy more than 2 place settings...i think its some serving bowls, I've done my research

Thanks for the tips about the perks, I will definitely keep that in mind when we register. And I don't think having 2 registries is bad at all! The more the better!

thank you thank you thank you thank you for this post!!!
we did our registries this weekend and actually duplicated our requests at macys and bb&b. i've been sitting here stressing (bc thats what i do best) about where to keep these items, and where to remove them. the woman at bb&b said that their prices are better than macys and you can always use coupons (with the exception of vera wang and waterford - ie the good stuff!).
i think im going to keep the china, stemware and silverware at macys and move all appliances and kitchen gadgets at bb&b.
this is so much more difficult than it should be. im stressing so much about where our friends and family will prefer to shop. crazy-town!

ps - who would've thought that my favorite registry item wouldve been my oneida 'michaelangelo' silverware set. i wanted to cry when i saw how great it looked with our formal place settings.

That is awesome! BBB and Macy's are like the two top competitors to have a registry at.

That is a great idea! I think when we do register, I am going to register for certain things at certain stores. Like fine dining and linens at macys. Kitchen stuff at BBB and casual dinnerware at Crate and Barrel, this way I won't confuse myself!

Re: a registry update!

I called FMIL last night to let her know the registry was up and she said she already had bought the china! LOL! That's my kinda lady!

Turns out she got 12 settings for the price of 6, and used a coupon. I love that we are good shoppers
