a review of 7 RH's

Hey Ladies...

we went to 6 RH's this weekend and I am still recovering!!! just wanted to give a hopefully helpful review!!

1. The Vanderbuilt @ Dowling College....we pull up and it is of course beautiful....we go inside and it is pretty but a little old looking...we are however a littl unsure if we are in the right spot...so i hear people talking....i peek my head in and excuse myself for interrupting....Jen who we were going to meet with was less than nice and asked us to wait....So we wait almost 40 minutes passed out apt time....now i normally do not mind waiting esp if you are going to give us the same attention....but i was getting annoyed...she didnt even say im running late please excuse me ...but okay so she takes around the place goes over the menu and there we go....so its 109pp in oct for a sunday...we felt we would need to add stuff in and there was a 1500 site fee....i liked it but i was not in love...

2. Old field club...we pull up and we both are in love!! we walk in we atill love it....we are asked if we need help and i explain we have an apt with tom...tom finishes up with his client and comes over to us....gives us literally a 7 min tour and is so rude and nasty...also does not want to answer our questions....it was 110 pp for a sun in october...i personally can not get over this and want no part in this man planning our wedding...

3. Majestic Gardens....in rocky point....we pull up and it looks a little catering hall-ish (nothing wrong with that, its just not what we want) so we walk in and i am still getting that feeling...however we were greeted with smiles and nice warm tea....we take a tour of the place which is pretty and come to find out that there is 6 acres of gardens to take pics...there are 2 menus...one is 80pp and the other is 90pp they also had really cool dessert concepts....for me...i really liked it but did not love it...what if it rains?? there wont be anywhere to take our pics...and its is an hour and 10 minutes from my house...

4. The inn at new hyde park....they re-did the place and it was GOREGOUS...i really really really loved it...they however had a 175 person garentee and i just can not and will not do that....they were also unwilling to come down from that...unless we wanted to do a thursday night...uhhhh....it was 120pp for a sun evenning in oct....and it also needed some stuff added (for what we had wanted)

5. THe metropolitan....in glen cove...my aunt and unlce got married there 8 years ago and i loved it ...it does need a face lift, which it is getting in april...it has a very lounge feel to it....

6. The de Seversky Center....we pullled up and honestly like two dorks are in awe....we are welcomed and greeted....we were very earlier and offered drinks and what not...we were able to take a few peeks and we were in awe....we kept saying to each other..this is it this is it this is it!! so we take the tour and i love everything! so does fiance!! then we sit down to talk money....ok 3 menus....1 is $130pp the 2nd is $150pp anf the 3rd is $165 pp...they also offer other tyoes of receptions for those with a bigger party....now thee is a 2500 site fee which serves as your first deposit ...if you want a ceremony here...its $1000...which added another hour to your day....also....you need to get your own cake....i however do not mind this idea as i am one who wants an amazing cake...so now here we are...we figured x amt per person would be budgeted and this does go ovr our budget for the rh...but if we go this way we will just scale back on other things...

we had also seen the westbury manor 2 weeks ago....we loved it there...everyone was so amazing...the issue is...we are inviting around 125-130 expecting lets say 110-115 as we are only inviting very close family and friends...the garden room is really good for about 100pp with a band...and the manor room is a min garentee of 150 people....there needs to be a room in btwn...so we will have to see!

I hope this helps everyone!!!!!

Re: a review of 7 RH's

Hey...We met with Eric...He has been really great..On MOnday he sent me a proposal and contract and btwn the emails and phonecalls with a ton of questions he has been awesome...

Sunday we are bringing my parents and grandma and we are going to go from there and we will be meeting with Melissa...

also..we want a sunday wedding..and it was orignally from 1-6 and that is just way too early for me...I was willing to switch to the Friday but really had my heart set on a Sunday...because of mansion by-laws and what not that is why it was from 1-6...but Eric asked the GM and we can now have it from 4-9...I was so happy that he was even able to try for us!

How about you?? Are you doing the traditional sit down dinner and dancing or one of the other styles??

Your getting married on my birthday!!!

Have a great day!!

HI,

When did you get that quote from New Hyde Park Inn. I was quoted last sat for Jan 2011 at 165 a person just the basic package. With Viennese and an extra cart for cocktail they wanted 182 a person.

We are also working with Eric. My first meeting was with Anthony. We've met with Melissa and we were working with Debbie but she is no longer there. Eric has been awesome since he's taken over the position. We're excited!!! You have FM!

If you loved The de Seversky Center you should check out The Woodlands.
It is absolutely AMAZING!!!! And sounds like it's cheaper than The de Seversky Center.
Not the typical wedding place. Only 1 wedding at a time, it's a beautiful old mansion!

Good luck!

hey we were quoted that 2-1-09..that Doesn't include anything and that does not include tax and/or gratuity...they were so unwilling to work with us so we didnt even try to consider them....

Hey again...It was for that awesom cocktail hour room upstairs and the dinner in the ballroom...she kept saying how they had other rooms so FH asked...well can we use one of the other ones? and she said no..the only room for the weddings are the ballroom....ughhhhh

we met with barbara...we were supposed to meet with kaite...

now this was for a sunday evening

and this was not inclu tax/grat/viennese or any cocktial hour additions....so..im thinking base price was 120pp add in a viennese hours (figure 10-12 pp) thtas 130pp add in a cocktail hour thing (another 10pp) 140 add on that tax grat and voila you could easily be at 182pp...

im just running out now but when i get back i can go get the menu she gave us and go over everything with yuou!!

hope this helps!!!
