A-rod STILL a yankee WOO HOO

Original post by Espo22

They announced on mike and mike this morning that it seems like he might be staying...a-rod went to talk to the yankees by himself, which if you know whats been going on then you'll understand why. They're working it all out now but looks positive

i know alot of you wanted a-rod gone but so glad hes staying

Plus posada signed a 4 year deal so thats great news too

im glad hes still there cause he is an sset to the team when he wants to be.............i am more happy about POSADA
He has been my fav since 1996!!!

But it shouldn't be on a 'when it's convenient for you' basis... he should be an asset ALWAYS, not when he 'wants' to be... he should WANT to be an asset every single second.

then get rid of every player on the yankees bc they all SUUUUUUUUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what about roger clemens, nobody has a problem with that, uhmmm he got paid how much money to play so few games and how much did he do?

See, here's my thing about A-Rod vs. the rest of the Yankees. I dont think he loves playing.. I think he just happens to be really good at it, but he doesn't have the passion.

Jeter has passion, he'll dive into the stands for a play and risk being out for a season to help out the team (that actually could be considered really dumb though ), he's wanted to be a Yankee his WHOLE LIFE... A-Rod, well he wanted to be a Met, but I guess the Mets weren't coughing up the payday he wants (not deserves).

i think he does have passion but everybody is different...a-rod is a very calculated player...last year when he was in a slump they were saying the problem was he over thought the game too much, the guy would go home and watch hours of video of himself to see what he did wrong, he would watch other players to study them and their moves and i think the NYC fans took alot out of him. I see it all the time with people their different styles of playing sports. You'll have the crazy, going all out, sliding and just out there...then you have the quiet, very calculated and reserved players.

we cant go by the fact that jeter wanted to be a yankee his whole life, and a-rod didnt bc then every player should be criticized for that...i mean look how many of them jump from team to team all the time and grew up in other places and wanting to be part of another team, its part of the game

You have a point. I just don't see his passion and I'm not buying it. I'm not impressed that he goes home and studies tapes to improve his game... he SHOULD be doing that. Make it count though... And we as fans have every right to give him a hard time... he makes a trillion dollars a year!!!!!!!!

I think there's a difference (at least in my mind, but I'm not a fan of A-rod, so we could go in circles about it). I think WANTING to do well is something that is apparent in all of the players (look at Mo, he's been winding down lately, he's not as good as he used to be, but you can tell he WANTS to throw great because of how upset he gets when he doesn't). A-Rod plays well almost all of the time (post season exluded), but I dont' think he cares.... I think if he really cared, why can't he carry that into the post season? Pressure?? Who knows... but prove us wrong A-Rod... kill the post season in 08.. make it a banner year, we're getting married and the Yankees win a WS... Help make it happen!!!

UGH! Denise, don't even get me started on Clemens he should've never came back!! He needs to give back every gift he received every time he retired back to the Yankees!! LOL

we cant judge a player by his style of playing, theres SOOO many that are like that...i always saw greg maddox the same way and andy pettite, its just who they are. Yeah im not surprised jeter is all wild on the field, you should see him at the clubs i especially loved witnessing some girl crying bc of him but i wont get into that. Obviously his technique of watching games works bc he is statistically known as the best player ever, if he continues at even this rate within a few years he will be past even the legendary baseball players. He gets the golden gloves awards and won shortstop awards, NOT Jeter. When sports illustrated did a thing to make the best team of all time, players living or dead it was Arod they picked for short stop. So he is doing something right.

I saw a special once about how amazing players come to play for ny and it breaks them down and they don't do well, look at poor randy johnson, the guy was on fire until he came to the yankees. And honestly arod should be at shortstop and jeter at 3rd base, jeter has a very strong arm and would do well at 3rd base so it would improve the team but thats a whole other story.

Point is the blame ONLY goes on a-rod, and he did well this past season, the post season he choked in the beginning but then he got back on track, the rest of them team choked the whole team. I think he WANTS to win and even feels the need to win and i think thats where the problem starts, unfortunately he cant play just to play for the passion of the game, its become to much about he HAS to win and that pressure and the real joy of the game will break a player down

LOL im sure its a huge hit to jeters ego the fact that a-rod gets paid alot more, that a-rod is still known as the best shortstop, that he won golden gloves awards, has better statistic

hey i like jeter, but if ppl wanna talk about them as players and how they did this year then its different...Jeter is nice but he is also a bit of a perv, and honestly can be a bit boring

no what happened was right after the season, boras said that a-rod is going to be a free agent and the yankees had told jeter if he becomes a free agent then they wont pursue him, but i think the yankees got mad bc they heard it through the press and not from him, but a-rod contacted the yankees himself and said he wants to discuss things with them

Yay for Girardi & Posado
Nay for Arod. He has a poor attitude and brings it to the clubhouse. Yea he had a good year but what happened to him in Oct. He shut off after Sept. 30th.
The ONLY reason is he coming back is noone will pay him that insane amount

Ditto...

He basically shuts down once the post season begins. Never been an A-Rod fan since day one of him in pinstripes. That has a lot to do with the fact that Alfonso Soriano was my favorite yankee and they traded him for A-Rod, a short stop at the time, to come play 3rd base. I was not a happy fan. For someone that is supposed to be MVP, I should have felt confident as a fan when he was coming to bat with 1 out in the 9th. I shouldn't be thinking please oh please just don't hit into a double play!

Hip Hip Jorge though. Love georgie. Definitely sad to see torre go, but I think it was the right move for him to make.
