Re: A sad twist....

FH's mother

All of my grandparents, all of FH's grandparents, and my favorite uncle who died 2 years ago.

We are having the Mass said in honor of FH's mother (you can have the priest do this during Communion, if you are having a Mass). We are also putting everyone's names in during the Prayers of the Faithful when you remember those who have died. We are also putting everyone's name on the last page of the program under a heading of 'We Lovingly Remember:' (or something like that!)

It's sad, but everyone will be with all of us brides in spirit!

Re: A sad twist....

Oh my gosh, my wedding day will be bitter sweet.
My father had six brothers. My uncle Q died in 1975 when I was 13 he had a motorcycle accident.
My other two uncle's (my dad brothers) both had Cancer, one died May 1, 1995 and other died Sept 17, 1995.
My died was very close to my last uncle and took his died very hurt. He suffered from very bad headache's, and died on October 6, 1995 of a stoke.

I lose both set of my grandparent. My father's father on March 27, 1980, and my grandmother, November 25, 1997

My mother's parents died six days apart, my grandfather died Sept 30, 2003 and my grandmother on October 6, 2003.

We are going to a special moment for them during the ceremony.

Because my dad only have two brothers living, I'm having one of my uncles give me away, and the other will perform the ceremony.

My daddy he passed away Aug 27 this year

So sorry to hear that!

This post is making me so sad. I only have 1 grandparent who is alive and a cousin of mine died in 99 of a drug overdose - he was only 23. FH only knew his grandmother's and one died many years before I met him and the other died last fall. So I'm thinking maybe we can do a collage of all of them.

Re: A sad twist....

I really wished my Mom was physically there to celebrate the day with me. I truly believe she was there with me though for so many reasons. First...the day...October was filled with rain, rain and more rain. My dream was to have that beautiful sunny outdoor ceremony. I woke up and of course it was still pitch black, but as I'm sitting getting my hair done I'm watching the sun shine like it hadn't all month. It was amazing. Oksana comes to do my makeup and says...'OMG Girl! It's GORGEOUS outside!!!' I knew my Mom had something to do with it. Everything about the day...the ceremony I could feel my Mom's presence and comforting touch throughout the day. Actually throughout the entire planning process.
We mentioned her in our programs and a part in the ceremony...the one time I cried. I left a seat open for her with a candle and a leaf swag on her chair at the ceremony and reception. We also had a memory table set up for my Mom & DH's Grandma.

But...I want you girls to know....these people will be there with you in some shape or form watching over you sharing in your special day. I'm sure they wouldn't miss it for the world...seeing you happy and marrying the man of your dreams.

The only person who I wish would be there is my brother, who passed away at the age of 16 2 years ago. I miss him so much and I know he will watch over me...
