A second cake for the wedding...

Tell if you think this is a good idea or a waste of time. My grandfather is diabetic, my FH grandparents are restricted diets, a good friend of ours is allegic to eggs and can't have milk. and I have a cousin who is allergic to milk. I was thinking about the all the possible allgeries and medical conditions of my guest. Considering my cake is going to have a lot of sugar in it as well as milk and eggs I was thinking about asking my baker to make a small egg free, sugar free and milk free cake. Maybe just a yellow cake with a filling that is also doesn't have milk, sugar or eggs. Do you think its a good idea and whats a safe filling to use. I was thinking pudding but I don't know if they can make it milk free. Any ideas?

I think that is a really good idea. Plus there are a lot of people out there who are allergic to gluten (wheat) as well so I think everyone would appreciate the other cake.

I think that's very thoughtful of you. Go for it!

If such a cake exists I think you should make it. You can even make that your grooms cake.

Maybe you can make 1 layer regular cake and the next layer a different cake!!

Someone also mentioned on here a vegetarian cake that tastes almost like the real deal and not like vegetables at all. Maybe that would work?

Well, find out what these people want or expect................

My DH has juvenile diabetes. People often get sugar free desserts for him. But, the truth is that he would rather just not eat any sweets. He is used to not eating dessert and just does not have a sweet tooth at all anymore. He says that the sugar free stuff just makes his stomach hurt and it does not taste so great anyway. I feel so bad when people try to be nice and get him sugar free stuff--because he probably won't have it anyway. It is a nice gesture and I love when people think of him, but it turns out to be a waste of money.

That is a nice idea. Then everyone will be able to enjoy your cake with you!
