a second dress - help me out

Original post by RockysGirl

So here's the deal - my FH is from Colorado so pretty much none of his family is gonna be able to fly in to New York for the wedding. Because of this, they're planning on throwing us a SECOND wedding when we get back there. I WAS gonna just wear my wedding gown again (because i LOOOOVVVVE that thing!!), but then I realized last night that it's probably not going to be as formal as the real thing. Just a nice dinner with all of his extended family. So maybe I should go with something more simpler, but still white (to give me that bride aura)

I definitely do not wanna go buy ANOTHER wedding gown. First off, that's weird, and second - i just can't afford it. Any suggestions on where I could find a nice white dress (floor length) for under $100? Maybe Pzaz? I dunno.

Any help would be appreciated!!! (I live in Suffolk county - so a place nearby would be great)

Try any department store. See what they have in their evening gowns department. I saw a very beautiful Ivory Calvin Klein dress at Macy's a few weeks ago.

also meant to include that Nordstrom has a bridal section with pretty dresses

I don't think you need to buy another dress. My friend did something really similar. She had a sit down dinner back at home with her family. It was at a steak house and she wore her wedding dress.
Unless if you have a huge ballgown with a cathedral train that would make you totally uncomfortable, I would not spend money on another one.

Well, this is what my dress basically looks like. It kinda is a little 'puffy'. The first pic is it without the slip underneath tho. It doesn't have a long train of anything. I would LOVE to wear it again, but I'm afraid (since it's in colorado and they don't do weddings like we do here) that people will show up only semi-formal. Like girls in skirts and guys in jeans and a blouse. And then there's me in this. I talked to his mother about it, and she just basically gave me freedom to wear whatever I want. If I want a different dress or the same one, it doesn't matter. Grr... that didn't help!
