A short review of my Bahamas trip with pics

Original post by chmlengr

As you know, ny DH and I were off to the Bahamas last Saturday morning, for a short R&R trip and we returned on Wednesday. I'll start off by saying that this trip was free - because my hubby was top sales manager in September and we were awarded the trip by General Motors (GM). All we spent was $350 for tips, souveniers, and my day at the SPA. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

The flight was quick - flying time only about 2.5 hours. I fared well on the flight there, only having to go to the bathroom twice. The plane was not fully booked, so my DH and I were able to spreadout because we had an empty seat in our aisle. BTW, we flew Delta from LGA.

We stayed at the Atlantis on Paradise Island - in the newest towers - the Royal Towers. The resort as a whole is beautiful, but our hotel room was standard - nothing to write home about. But we hardly spent anytime in our room - but it did have a beautiful view across the resort and overlooking the ocean with a small balcony to step out on.

We ate like kings on the meal plan - the food in each of the restaurants at the resort was fantastic - oh, so delicious. I think I gained like 10 pounds and now DH teases me that my belly looks more like a basketball than the previous football look! We spent a lot of time in lounge chairs by the pools and walked the beach a few times. I'm not a sun tanner - I burn way too easily and avoid thd sun at all costs, but I still got some lobster red color! Because I just started my 7th month, I was not allowed to do much water sports, like slides or tubing or jet skis obviously, however, seeing that I was itching to do something, DH treated me to a day at the SPA.

It was heaven. I got a manicure and pedicure and a Swedish massage, which was the only massage they would do if you are pregnant, but it was wonderful nonetheless. That was about $175, so you can see the cost of our trip was nothing without this expense Worth the expense, I felt so good afterwards!

We didn't leave the resort at all (we could have headed to downtown Nassau to the shops), but we had only a few days, so we just relaxed and enjoyed. I will say that the Atlantis itself is very expensive - the food was really expensive. And the place was crawling with kids and their families, which I don't mind at all, seeing in less than 90 days I will be one of them. But at 10 p.m. we were having a romantic dinner in a fancy restaurant and there were kids running between the tables and knocking things all over and such.

Well, not much else to tell, so I will end with some pictures, which we didn't go crazy with because we spent most of our time at the pool.

The place is surrounded by aquariums in every place:

The view from our room:

Us in the couryard of the hotel:

The 60-ft. vertical drop slide I couldn't go on, and DH didn't either, although I wanted him too. You go through a tube at the end and you are surrounded by sharks.

Our walk along the beach:

After stuffing our faces at dinner one night - notice my lobster red tan!:

I did wear a bathing suit, but DH is the worst picture taker - here's the best shot!:

We had dinner here one night:

Thanks everyone. I wish I was still there.

Shamma - the massage tables did not have the holes in them for the belly, so that is why they can only do the Swedish massage. I was on my side when she did my back, then I was on my back for the rest of the massage.

Jenny - yes, the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas was very child friendly. I was amazed at the amount of families there. I would definitely recommend it as a place to go for you, but I will remind you it was rather expensive but we had a blast and it was so beautiful!

Welcome back! Looks like a great trip. I'm glad you posted your review b/c (I think on the newlywed board) someone recently was inquiring about Atlantis. I have heard its expensive but sounds like the meal plan is worth it and it looks very nice!

Glad you had a great time! ETS: you look great too!
