Okay so FH used to work for a promotion company and that company used to work for one specific club. He worked with them for 5 years and recently quit (about 3-4 months ago). Anyhow, one of the owners of the club is getting married and we had been invited to his engagement party and we also invited him to ours. Well, his wedding is next weekend and about a month ago we realized we had not gotten an invitation. We figured that maybe they had sent the invitation to our old address and just never contacted us for the new one SOOO FH texted the groom and said, hey, just wanted to let you know we never got an invitation because we moved and the groom told us that he had it and that we should come and pick it up (he couldnt resend? but anyway)
SO, when FH goes to the club to pick up the invitation he overhears the groom telling his assistant JUST GIVE THEM MY BROTHERS INVITATION in a nasty tone. FH quickly retreated back to where the groom couldnt see him and then when he was given the invite he was told that they lost the outer envelope with our address and names on it (again, weird, but we didnt think anything of it)
SOOOO, yesterday night FH sees one of his old business partners and basically finds out that the groom didnt invite a bunch of the old promoters who no longer work for him, so now we feel like we werent really invited in the first place but kind of put the groom in an awkward position.
SO, my question is this: do we still go (even though I feel SOOO stupid) or do we not go and just send a gift?
Sorry this is so long!!!

I wouldn't go, he obviously gave you guys an invitation because your FH brought it up to him. That's rude of him to invite you to the engagement party and not the wedding. I wouldnt send a gift either....

This is tough because it's almost as if you brought this situation on yourself since your fh asked him about the invite. Since he asked I would say dont go but give a gift. Sorry you've been put in such an awkward situation!

I wouldn't go- i think you will feel uncomfortable all night and why feel what way...since it was a 'business' connection you might want to send a gift-nothing major, but never a good idea to burn bridges... I am so sorry you are in this situation, very rude of them to invite you to the EP and not the wedding!

Yeah, I know....we did bring it upon ourselves but we did not think that we would NOT be invited. I mean, we are not inviting people to our wedding that we invited to our e-party but thats people who RSVPed YES and then just didnt show up.
Okay, so do we send a FULL amount to them? Also, do we still invite them to our wedding?

Its definitely rude of them to invite you the eparty and not the wedding. I would not send a full amount UNLESS you're planning on inviting them to your wedding because then more likely than not they'll give you the same.

I would not go, but then again so many people will be there that you know, so you will have a blast. Get wasted and have a great time don't even sweat it.

hey chicka

i dont know, i'd feel weird if i was in your spot. Will you be seeing these people often? If you're not going to invite them to your wedding then u shouldnt feel bad if u dont go to theirs..
They didnt feel bad about not inviting u guys or the other promoters.
u can always play the whole...'something came up' bshyt as to why u didnt attend. but i doubt they will even question u after the wedding or e-party.

Re: A Small Dilemma--Opinions Needed
i wouldnt go or send a gift! it is very tacky to invite people to an engagement party then not to the wedding! same goes for showers, you dont invite any women who are not invited to the wedding!
in understand that it was an akward positon for the groom, but what he did was not ettiquete (sp?) and he was nasty about it......i say just let things be.......i guess he wanted to cut ties with people he doesnt work with anymore.....JMO if you do go have fun!
