Today Gabe had a playdate. Another little boy from his school came over and it was not the first time. It started to go downhill when he told everyone he had to go poopie. Then.. yes.. He called us in to wipe his butt!! He is days away from his 6th birthday!! Hes in summer camp, elementary school etc! I refused to wipe it. Im sorry.. but I was done doing that like 2 years ago! Then he proceeded to sit in the bathroom and cry and tell me he was going to throw up.. his belly hurt etc! So Im calling his mom on the phone over and over and over. She wasnt home!!
Who lets their kid come over your house and doesnt give you a heads up your going to have to wipe his butt! And on top of that doesnt give you their cell # and goes out?

Re: A terrible playdate
I can't stand when mother's look at playdates as free babysitting!
My boys are not allowed over anyone's house unless I go for at LEAST the first 2 times. This gives me the chance to see how they interact with the other child/children - and lets me get a certain sense of how this family is. One time Robbie had a playdate and the family had guns ALL OVER THE PLACE! The mom was like 'Oh, don't worry most of them are not loaded and the kids know not to touch them.' I can assure you that my sons NEVER played there again.
As to the wiping issue. I am REALLY glad that you didn't do it. I tell both my boys that their privates are private and that NOBODY touches them. Even my 3 year old does a good job wiping..
Sometimes it just stinks - not only do you have to navigate the social waters of being an adult... but as a parent you also need to do the same for your kids! But damned if they aren't worth it!

I think it's interesting what happened AFTER he asked you to ..er..wipe his butt. I wonder if he really wasn't feeling well or if this is his practiced little bathroom tantrum ...don't most schools (And I'm talking kindergarten here) require kids to be potty trained before accepting them? I would think that includes wiping of the butt, lol..

yes & hes also been is a summer camp for the last 2 summers or so. It really seems to me that his mom babies him. She wasnt shocked at all, and actually seemed upset when we told her we told him to wipe his own.

Wow, that's bad. I mean, how long is this mom going to keep wiping his butt? Is she planning on following him to college?
I'm glad you stood your ground with that Amy, hopefully this kid will realize that he should be doing it on his own. Poor thing tho, it's not his fault his mom's clinging.

So confusing... she is so overbearing that she wipes his as$ for him at 6 years old... but negligent enough to drop and run without a forward number?
I bet she is confused when you turn down her next request for a playdate.

that was my first thought when i read the OP actually - why would you WANT anyone else ( teachers, camp counselors, other parents) to have an EXCUSE to touch your child. Yes, it is sad you have to think like that but unfortunately you just have to!!! yuck.
