It's $350 donation to the church. $150 for the music.
They say to give the altar servers $15 each.
I'm guessing the $150 for the music... is going all the to music person. Do I need to tip her?!
And I was told at pre-cana...
'If you're using a Deacon... please tip them. They work for free.'
But we are having our priest marry us.
Do we tip him?

I am tipping the alter boys- not the organist because the money is going right to her. The priest you dont tip

Re: A tip question, I know we all love these...
My 9 year old nephew is an altar boy...He gives up his mornings or afternoons on a weekend, and he looks forward to a tip.. If a bride/groom doesn't tip them, one priest in the parish will give him ten dollars...It is very disappointing to me to see this as if they can load the church with flowers etc, they can give the kid money as he could be out in the summer having fun. Normal tips run 15-20 dollars in his parish.. I love that he is saving for his video games...

No tip for the priest..but the altar boys should be tipped...My nephew is 9 and gives up time on the weekends and you would be surprised how many people stuff the church with flowers, but don't tip the kids.. He looks forward to it and saves his money for stuff he would like. One nice priest gives the kids ten dollars if they aren't tipped... It makes me sad when I hear this.. Especially when he could be out enjoying his summer. The usual tip for the altar boys is 15-20 dollars...and it makes their day.

I called the rectory to ask if it's customary to tip the priest and they told me people do it all the time.

Re: A tip question, I know we all love these...
i didn't tip the pastor. i had to pay him directly, the organist directly, the deacon directly and the guy that cleaned up the church afterward. after paying close to $1000 in total i was NOT tipping!! (our ceremony lasted 25 minutes!!!)
