A Vent about the bestman....

A Vent about the bestman....

Ok, I just need to vent about FH's bestman. What a rotten loser he's being! This guy has been a very good friend to both of us for years, and lately, he's just been awful to both of us. We moved to Massachusetts in September so that I could bypass student teaching in NY and so FH could finish his degree....two things that are essential to our future, you know so we can make good money and have a good life. So, we come back to Long Island almost three weekends a month because we are very homesick. So, not once has this guy called us or come to see us, and he had a HUGE hissy fit on FH last night about how the two of us have turned into an old married couple when we should be having fun and how we should announce our arrival to everyone when we come home and that we stopped calling him all of the time, and all of this stupid baby stuff. I mean, not one phone call from him in months unless we are home and finally we decided no more phone calls on our end, we're sick of it, and now he's got a problem with it. We purposely left our cell phone numbers local so no one would incur the cost of long distance. And so the best man has all of a sudden become critical of our wedding plans and bashing all of our decisions and freaking out on us. Anyway, I am just disgusted by him and some of the other people we asked to be in the BP. I wish I could ask them all to not even bother being in it.
I don't know if any of that made sense, but I am just tired of trying to do the right thing and constantly being criticised by people around me

he is totally going about it the wrong way, but try to think of it as he really cares about your FH and misses their friendship since you guys moved away. have you invited him to massachusettes to hang out with you guys for a weekend?

I agree with jps. Your Best man is probably missing how the friendship used to be especially if he is not married himeself. If he is a true friend, he will come around when he recognizes that you guys have a new set of responsibilties as a couple and are not staying away because you do not want him as a friend.

One thing I learnt so far is to take people's opinion about the wedding with a grain of salt. I have a couple of people in my life whose opinions I do value since I consider theirs to be constructive criticism. Howver there are a lot of people who are critics purely I think resulting from jealousy and resentment. Please make a mental list of these individuals and practice how to change the subject when they saysomething negative about your plans. It helped me maintain my sanity so far!!!

On the BP thing, you need to talk to the most mature member and ask as to why you are receiving so much grief about the most important day of your life from the entire BP. Mayve it was something you said or did and did not realize it.

Best of luck

Thanks for the advice girls. We have repeatedly invited him and many other of our friends to Massachusetts, and everyone makes excuses to not come. I think he is having a hard time in his own life, and is taking it out on us. We are just so fed up. I'm just sad
