I've heard that it acceptable to give a wedding gift up to a year after the wedding. I'm wondering if any past brides had people come to their wedding w/out a gift and then send one within that timeframe?
We had 2 couples come to our wedding who didn't bring gifts. And then another couple who RSVP'd and then didn't show up. That couple asked for our address right away and they still have not sent anything. It's been almost 2 months.
Am I being petty? Should I just accept that these ppl probably will not be giving us a wedding gift?
And then, what do I write in the thank you card?

Honestly in this day of age i think it is expected that ppl bring a gift to a wedding... i wouldnt count what is in the envelope or be mad about what I got but I def think that it is ok to expect a gift.. anyone who says they wouldnt be upset to not receive one probably was never put in that situation.. its not about covering your cost per plate.. its about your guests being courtious and doing the right thing.. i agree with the above comment.. after a couple months i definitely wouldnt be waiting for a gift..
this is exactly the point... i wasn't trying to turn a profit or even break even, i was more hurt that the no-gifters (one of whom happened to be my BEST FRIEND from high school and the other a BRIDESMAID) didn't even have the decency to give us a card.

we had 3 people not gift us. 2 of them sent something a month after... 1 we are not expecting to. i'd be surprised if he sent something... but a year is a little extreme i think

Re: a year after the wedding to give a gift?
Please do not rip me either. I was in a wedding party, had a card, had $$ in it, and totally forgot it the day of. I was in the wedding party and had a million things to do for the bride and the out of town family I was in-charge of taking care of. Shortly after the wedding I returned to school full-time and had another million things to do. I did eventually send the card & gift, but it took a bit of time, less than a year but more than a few months. It was not meant to hurt anyone. I just got caught up with the wedding/life and took a bit of time to get it out. Please also keep in mind, as a bm, I spent a small fortune being in the wedding and that by taking a bit of time, I was able to send a better gift.
