I'm having a full mass so do I need one? Is anyone not having one? Also, who lights it, the couple? The last wedding I was at I have no idea who lit it lol.

Good question! Are they already lit when the Bride and groom get to the altar?

Re: A zillion untiy candle questions
In my church either the Priest will light them before the ceremony or you can have the mom's come up and light them..

Re: A zillion untiy candle questions
The lighting of the candle can be done in different ways. The way we are doing it is by having the moms light the tapered candles and then we light the center candle together.

Re: A zillion untiy candle questions
I was planning on using the unity candle. I totally didn't even think of all the details though...oops. I better check with the priest to see if they even allow it.

You definitely don't NEED one. FH and I are having one and our mother's are going to light it.

I am having one. I think FH and I will light it but I'm not sure now. I checked with my church and they are allowed.
