Just calculated my budget again (based on vendor we already booked and stuff we already bought) and we're like 5K over.
Plus, we finally finalized our guestlist and we were at around 350. We know the decline rate will be much less than the 18%. My friend who shared almost identical guestlists with me ended up with 95% acceptance.
Man, need more $$$$$ . No one is getting Christmas gifts this year...hahahahaha. A nice little card will have to do!

but if you dont have the $$ that is the safest route....im sure there are 50 or so people that you havent seen in a few years, thats why u need your A list & a B list.

sometimes you really can't...trust me i wouldnt invite ANYONE i havent seen in years, well except certain ppl like my grandmothers for example i havent seen them for a few years bc they live overseas and havent been there in a while, but i would never think of not inviting them.
FH's family on his dads side ONLY will be over 100 ppl alone. We're also not inviting kids and im doing a rule about not seeing ppl for years. Still comes out to alot though

you ppl and your huge families hahahaha jk. Yeah its crazy and ppl make faces sometimes, like OMG give me a break , what do they expect us to do, not invite FH's family all his first cousins and aunts and uncles lol. Plus Fh HAS to invite work ppl, he gets invited to theirs, of course my luck he has his college friends, his neighborhood friends he grew up with, plus HB friends he grew up with lol and then friends he became close with bc of softball then theres my family which is small, well at least the ppl who are in the USA bc otherwise FH and i would be really screwed and have about 500 ppl lol bc my family overseas is HUUUUUUUGE and might even give FH's family competition, but getting visas is not easy. But alot of real close family friends and so on it adds up basically is my point of this long post

Personally if I go over budget, I'd rather do it by having more guests to share in the day (within reason!) and FH agrees. So we've been careful with things like flowers and invitations and such. But I'm not inviting children probably under 17 or 16 depending. And you can limit 'with guest' for singles as that doubles the list.

so true, i mean its one thing if you cut ppl that you havent really seen but to cut guests that you would want there and would love to share your day with you so you can have more expensive things doesnt seem right, so cutting other things would be a good idea.

LOL well he is not inviting EVERYONE from work bc that would be insane and he doesnt work at the office really and doesnt evenknow alot of them lol, he goes on site to do jobs so all the ppl he personally works with he will invite and all the execs he works with, dont want to upset those that promote you and give you a raise which is funny bc at a wedding we went to like 2 weeks ago was for someone at his job, and we were all at one table and we had one of the best tables and i was like WOW i thought we'd be in the back and fh said, uhmmm you put those who give you a raise at good tables

Sometimes I have to do daily affirmations... 'it's about celebrating with friends and family, not STUFF' I really fell in love with the smashing cards invitations, but then I was estimating the bill it's just paper!!! Basically it comes down to priorities.

I can't...it's already cut down!!! Our families are big...it's close to 100... just families...FIRST cousins and parents siblings ONLY. I just happen to be the baby of my dad's side...so all my cousin are much older than me and have families of their own.
I also grew up in a very close, small, family oriented church and everyone there is pretty much like my family. I ended up having to cut half the church...and only invited my closest church friends and their families (these are people that I've known for 15+ years and still talk to).
And then there are are non-church friends...of which we've only invited close friends...but since all of them are either married/engaged/in long term relationships, they are all coming with guests, which doubles the amount of people.
We really tried...our original list was like 400 something! Everyone we invited are people we have been in contact with for at least the past ONE year (that was our criteria)...not even a few years. And we didn't invite anyone at all from work.
It's not really that we don't have the $$...we just are overbudget.

Re: AAAAAAAAARGH...stupid budget
I know the feeling! I'm trying really hard to keep within some type of budget. It doesn't help that when I tell FH how much stuff is costing he tells me to just go for it, we're only getting married once.
I went to try on dresses tonite but was a little overwhelmed by prices. So I'm going back another day.
But I wonder if I should just go for it...my fortune cookie today said: Poor quality is rememberd longer than high prices.
Maybe it's a sign!

HAHAHAHAHA!!! I've already sort of done that in my head. Our original budget was 35K. But now it's closer to 40K, which I guess for almost 350 people isn't too bad...it's almost a budget wedding! haha.
