So I went in yesterday for a haircut. My hair was just below my shoulders. I told the stylist that I wanted it a little shorter, but to still be able to put it in a ponytail because I get up at 5:30 in the morning and don't have time to do my hair. Well, when all was said and done, she cut off like 3 inches! Fine. I actually like short hair. But this was NOT what i was planning for, and was really taken aback. Plus, it's just not a very good haircut. And I don't want to 'shape it up' anymore, because I really don't want it any shorter!
It doesn't help that I'm getting my period tomorrow and am super moody anyway, but today, after washing and styling it myself for the first time, I started crying. My FH tried to make me feel better, and was certainly very well intentioned, but these are some of his actual comments:
'It doesn't look terrible.' 'It'll grow back.' 'Just don't go to that stylist next time.' 'It looks better than yesterday.'
UGH! Men have no idea. I'm sorry if I seem so shallow, girls, but I'm just in a terrible mood and felt like whining, and thought I'd look for some girly sympathy because my FH is so bad at it!

Okay, I edited to include a pic. It's in my bathroom, because that's the only place I could think of with a shelf the right height to put the camera on! Hee. So... it's okay, right?

I dont' think it's a bad haircut at all, actually, it's a very good haircut! You're lucky, you can pull off the short look, not many people can!

I think it looks adorable - - -I had really short hair (shorter than yours) and random people would come up to me saying how cute the cut was - - -be inventive and have fun with it.

its cute!!! you are lucky you can have short hair - short hair does NOT work on me!
trust me i understand 100% i got a haircut Friday night - she cut off 2 inches ( its REALLY long) and i cried for about 20 minutes after she left. . . .and seriously no one even noticed it! LOL
anyways - it looks really cute on you - i am sure you will get used to it after the initial SHOCK of it. . .and hair grows back!

I guess I was just PMS'ing and feeling insecure about the hair, and when the best FH could come up with is 'It's not terrible' and 'it'll grow back' ... I just needed some encouragement. Thank you all so much for it! It made my night.

Dava, that haircut is awesome!!! It looks great on you, you have such a thin face it really suits you. I am the same way about hair, I never blow it out in the AM. Luckily it's so short it will only take about 6 mins to dry... Don't sweat it, it looks great!!!

your haricut loooks great, my stylist convinced me to cut off 14 inches to donate to lock for love,,,,,,welllll that didn't turn out to well for me, but you look wonderful!!!!!! My short hair was kind of nice for a while though, a lot less time in the morning!. Don't worryy

It looks great! Take it from a girl who is notorious for making drastic changes when she goes for a hair cut!
My hair is longer than it's every been before now and I've gotten really used to it so if I were to cut it short I know I would feel the same way but believe me it really looks good on you and once you get used to it you'll love it!

Same thing happened to me yesterday - My hair was past my bra strap, I asked her for a TRIM and i said it three times,
She layered the whole back and it is now a little past my shoulders
I am furious - I didnt want layers!!!!
Anyone know any vitamins to make it grow faster???

Well, now you're all just padding my ego...
No, seriously, I was SO insecure when I tried to style my hair for the first time this morning; I just couldn't get it the way I wanted and was freaking out and FH kept saying the wrong things (Men! Hee!). To add to that, I'm a teacher and high school kids have no little 'inner voice' that stops them from saying something rude. I was picturing having to answer 100 times tomorrow, 'Ugh, Miss, why does your hair look so stupid?' And since corporal punishment is illegal, I'd just have to sit and take it...
But, now I'm more confident and will walk into my classroom tomorrow with my short-haired head held high. Thank you!!
