AAAH!

So... as some of you know i have my MA in Forensic Psychology (pointless)

Anyway.. i was planning on going back to school on Sept for either Mental Health Counseling, or school counseling, or school psychology.
Well.. i put it off and put it off because i wasn't 100% set on going back to school and not 100% sure of what i was going back to school for!

So... i only applied to 1 place so far, Hofstra for School counseling.
I was planning on applying to st. john's and adelphi for school psych and then back to John Jay for mental health counseling.

WELL...

because i put it off and have been so busy wedding planning the deadlines for st. john's and adelphi have passed.

UGH!!!

i am still gonna apply to john jay but now it's like, 'well.. i guess i'm def going to school for school counseling or mental health counseling'
i'm still not 100% thrilled about doing either lol (although John Jay would be the cheapest, easiest, and shortest)

AND i've been worried about going to school AND saving for a wedding. I was def planning on taking off the semester of my wedding but still!

Now what!!!!

ugh.. i'm such a procrastinator.

do you have a decent (i.e., stable) job now that you can wait with grad school for another year? it will give you time to think about what you want to do...and get your applications in on time. maybe you can visit the schools or shadow a professional in the field.

just a thought.

Well.. my job is guaranteed till Dec. Like Lori, i could be moved into another Dept. I am just not a big fan of working in the city but maybe going into another dept in the agency could help (i'd actually be working at another site in the Bronx).

I still have hofstra and john jay as an option but we'll see.
Just *****.. i feel like i STILL don't know what i wanna do with my life lol

Or you could wait one more year until after the wedding......just another possibility. That way you're not going psycho trying to plan a wedding, work, and go to school???

Wish I knew what to you tell you....I've been toying with this idea myself, but I think if I go back it's going straight for my doctorate.

As a side note, it sounds like that job I was telling you about might be opening up real soon....I know the girl gave her notice yesterday so the directors have been talking.

I was thinking about my doctorate but i took my GRE's and psyc GRE's and...... umm... yeaaaaah...

imo if you arent sure what you want to do, or where to go once you have your degree, i dont think you should rush it.

as long as you have an idea of how you will apply the degree, then go for it!! but i dont see how taking on more responsibility and bills and stress can really help right now.

on the other hand, if you need a masters to keep your job or to get a raise, then that makes sense.
