Ok so this might be a dumb questions, but what does hand cancel mean when u send invites?
I plan to go to the post office with my invites but I thought I just hand them over to be mailed? Am I supposed to say something on how to send them?
And also I sent one to a friend 2day thru regular mail (dropped in box) was that ok? will it still get delivered that way?

Re: ? about Hand Cancel??
They just hand stamp each one, so they dont have to go thru the machine! if they go thru the machine, the invite, might get damaged.

It will get delivered, but bid you have it weighed first? Most wedding invitations weigh more so they need at least 61 cents. Some of them can use 44 cents though. I would have it weighed with all inserts enclosed to be sure.

i went to the post office and actually handed them to the workers to stamp them...you only mailed one? bring the rest to the post office, and watch them stamp them! i stood there and personally watched them stamp each invitation! lol

yeah I had them weighed, and I ordered my stamps online from stamps.com, they are sooooo cute I did a picture of me,fh and our dog...So I will bring the rest to the post office to have them stamp them cause I dont want them to be stamped in the machine and have them get stamped right over the picture.. the 1 I sent today was just to a friend who is moving next week so just to make sure she gets it..

Make sure you find a post office that will do it for you for free. My post office tried charging me 20 cents for each invitation to hand cancel them, so I am going to be going to a different post office.

Ok good! the hand canceling will also ensure that your pretty picture stamp doesnt get lines thru it!!

Just make sure they actually DO hand cancel the envelopes. A woman that works at the post office told me that just because they tell you they will do it, doesn't mean some won't still end up in the machine anyway.
