Fi and I are paying for the wedding ourselves with no help from our parents (both sides crying broke and have money). Is is ok to not to include them on the invites. Can we word the invites like this:
Example:
The honor of your presence is requested at the marriage of (Brides name) to (Grooms name) Saturday, the seventeenth of May two thousand and eight at half past four in the afternoon
or
The pleasure of your company is requested at the marriage of (brides name) to (grooms name) Saturday, the seventeenth of May two thousand and eight at half past four in the afternoon
We are not trying to be cruel.
Please help!

i think you should word the invitations however youd like to word them.... its YOUR wedding.. not theirs. if its one thing ive learned from these girls its that this wedding needs to be perfect in your eyes, and if the invitations will be perfect like that, then there ya go.

Re: about invitation wording..
I think it's fine.... I am in the same situation.... (But i have to say both sets of parents really are broke) So we are paying for everything ourselves,,,, and will be wording the invitations the same way, I dont see anything wrong with it.

Re: about invitation wording..
I believe if they are not putting anything towards it, then you are under no 'obligation' to name them on the invitation....If you dont want it to sound mean just say 'Together with our parents..'

Re: about invitation wording..
It's fine!!! FH and I are paying for everything ourselves too and also my parents are divorced so I am probably going to use the saying that starts out...Today I marry my best friend...
We aren't going to include our parents on the invites!

Re: about invitation wording..
Definitely acceptable to NOT include them...I might even say ' Bride and Groom request your presence at their marriage...' something like that...have it so you two are the ones asking them to come ya know?

I'm not including my parents either, it's our wedding and we are paying the bulk of the expenses

Re: about invitation wording..
now i feel like a spoiled little btch.
i know i already responded to the question at hand, but i just want to reiterate that i agree with the rest of the girls...its a really important decision, and i believe that if theyre not paying for it then theres no need for them to be on the invitation.
