Punta Cana is awesome. DR in general is an island that if you are interested in going off the resort, it is not safe unless with a guided tour/excursion. Personally, that doesnt bother me...when I go to the Carribean, I just enjoy being at the resort/beach, etc.

The resorts in PR are really really nice, beach is beautiful. I dont have any personal pics though...I could see if I can find some at home though.

I LOVE Punta Cana and I can't wait to go back!

We stayed at the Palladium resort- beach was beautiful, never felt 'unsafe'. I LOVE that they really don't allow vendors on the beach- you may get a person or two selling excursions but otherwise it's really chill.

Have a GREAT time.

We did 2 excursions- snorkeling/speedboating and also, ATV drive to a private beach. Amazing. Seriously, I've traveled all over the world but this was one of my favorite vacations- cost effecient, beautiful and tons of fun!

i havent been to PC yet but ive been all over DR. many of the neighborhoods around resort towns are very poor. as long as you have your wits about you and dont go hanging out on the street at night you're fine. especially if you are in a resort. most of those places have security guards and gates.

Re: About Punta Cana

I was in Punta Cana a month ago. That's actually where I got engaged.

We stayed at the Majestic Elegance which I wouldn't recommend really.

However I would recommend bringing 'OFF' or some other sort of mosquito repellant. There were lots of mosquitoes in our room.

Is your resort all inclusive? If it is, there is no need to leave the resort.

And of course, don't drink the water. I would even recommend brushing your teeth with bottled water.

Re: About Punta Cana

Punta Cana is amazing. Food and water not so amazing, plan on losing some weight JUST KIDDING!!! But Bravura I heard is soooo nice. We stood at Bahia Principe, which is close by. Things to do for sure: Catameran! (sp?) What a great experience and the views are amazing! And so much fun! I would do it again in a heart beat! And sooooo romantic! Things to avoid: 4 wheeling and Snorkeling-> The 4 wheelers are so freaking muddy, and unless you like that sort of thing, don't do it and the snorkeling is cool but bring your own snorkels. What turned me off was the fact that all they did to wash them was dump them in soapy water... ew.

Do not travel out of the resort with out a guide. My travel agent couldn't stress that enough!

Oh yeah, and there was no Corona at our resort which completely bummed my FH out! But the other beers there aren't bad!

All in All, I think its worth the trip. And bug spray and Avon Skin So Soft will become essential! Those bugs are on steriods lol. But honestly, its still breathe taking and a great vaca!

You have to be very careful about Punta Cana. We go every year and absolutly love it. We stay at the Paradisus Punta Cana. The food is excellent, the beach is beautiful, there is a casino and night club and two more right down the road off the resort we go to when ours closes down.

Many resorts the food is terrible and the beach is not so nice. Make sure you really check out the resort you are going to. Try tripadvisor.com
