You have no reason to feel bad. They are your wedding invitations and I think it was very generous to include both sets of parents on YOUR wedding invitations. We put FIL on ours and they haven't given us squat. Like you said there is no way to please everyone. As long as you and FH are happy with them thats all that matters.

first, sorry you have to deal with this,
did you dad want only their names???

you need to realize that you wont make everyone happy, explain to your parents/dad that fh's parents did help out a lot and that you wanted to recognize them, hopefully you can leave it at that with him, tell him you dont want them to feel slighted but you dont want fh's parents to either, in the end whats done is done and they will understand, it may just take a bit of time...

good luck

I don't understand why he is upset about it. like you said, your FIL's have contributed plenty.

I also think it is wrong to leave off the groom's parents if the brides parents are mentioned.

IMO, putting their names there is more of a respect thing than a 'who paid' thing.

we're paying for it ALL ALONE...and we put both our parents on the invite.......

i dont think people really look at the invites and think..hmmm...whose name is on top..they must have paid.....cause we put our parents names on top........i just thought it was a nice thing to do.

sorry you are upset...BUT you did the right thing by putting both names on your invitations...Especially since they contributed to the wedding also...and I AM more than sure that you made them very happy by including them...

RESPECT is a wonderful thing to have when starting a new life with your FH and inlaws!!!!

You did GOOD girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree we have both parents names on our invite the same way you did it. I have found while planning this wedding that my parents at least want to always do things the way it was done when they got married--they forget that in my case it was over 26 years ago.

Good luck & as me & FH always say don't sweat the small stuff--you & your FH are going to start your life together soon--& that is all tha matters

Re: About ready to cry- kinda long

I had the exact same problem when we were planning our wedding - my parents are divorced, blah, blah, blah. Well, after much yelling and threatening and being an arse from one of my parents, we put all the names on the invitation - and I am SO SO glad we did. For reasons I would rather not go into, my ILs will not be hosting any other weddings, and I think, for reasons unique to her wedding, my one sibling is going with the 'together with our parents' introduction (which is just as good, don't get me wrong). The point is - all of our parents (steps included) were honored individually (which was important to us) it didn't take a thing away from us, and in the end, it makes ME happy to know I did what I felt was right. Ignore your dad. He'll get over it, and even if he doesn't, know in your heart you acted like a grown-up and stuck to your opinion. Which is what counts - it is your and your FH's day, and if it was important to you, then so be it.
