about songs at your wedding

about songs at your wedding

I was at a wedding recently and they played AWESOME songs but the songs were more for sitting around and singing, they werent good for dancing. They played a lot of slow songs which i love since FH is better at slow dancing and its romantic but there just wasnt ANY songs that were good to just get up and dance and have a good time. For example... Cecilia by paul simon (a song i love, but how do you dance to that?)

so just a suggestion.. when you pick songs for your wedding.. make sure you consider whether or not people can dance to them

This was a good thing for me to realize because i loved all the songs they played and would have probably wanted a lot of them at my wedding, but now i will make sure to think about whether people are going to be able to dance to them. I personally want everyone up and on the dance floor.

But I do understand that that may have been what the bride and groom were going for, they may have wanted it more low key, but it just wasnt as fun for the people celebrating with them.

that's a really good point, there are a lot of slow songs that I absolutely love, but they're definitely not dance-able so I own't be using them...

I Agree 100%...theres alot of songs i love too but can't really play bc they are not really dancing songs. Just like alot of rock songs are great if you're at a bar and singing along but won't get everybody up dancing, also have to watch with the slow songs.

i agree that maybe that was what the couple was going for...i know at our wedding, the vast majority of people invited most likely wouldnt be doing too much dancing so it would awkward to have too many dancing songs..its important to consider what the guests would want, if i thought they wanted to dance i definitely would include those songs too.

I did the playlist for my e-party and the older crowd was up all night dancing, i was surprised how much they danced and just about all of them did, it was great to see and they danced to all types of music.

I am def all for a wide variety of music. i love the 50's throught the present. But within that i think its good to try to select songs that are going to get people at least moving in their seats.

But it does depend on the crowd at your wedding. But you can cater to that. i dont think any any wedding you are going to get ALL people who dont like to dance, I've een to lots of weddings where the beginning was more tamed down music, slower, older, but as the night progressed the music got fresher and more dancable. THat worked out well because i think most people are getting what they like.

i agree. i recently went to a wedding where obviously the bride was fan of 80s metal...but you really can't dance to it.. i have nothing against metal or rock music, but i think i danced once the whole night and that was to a slow song

i think music is soooo important at a wedding.. it can make or break it..

exactly its great that they LOVE that music and yes it is THERE day or OUR day in this case.. but you alslo have to think of the people who are attending your reception.. they too are there to help you celebrate and yes .. let me be blunt.. giving you money in honor of your marriage.. but they also want to have a good time.

exactly, regardless of genre of music pick songs that will get ppl up...I'll dance to whatever if its danceable, 50's, 80's present whatever

our crowd also LOVES to dance, and FH and i are big on dancing so its very important to us

This is so great that you brought this up. I was recently looking at my playlist and so many songs are songs I love to sing along to, but maybe not so danceable. I'll have to think about some better dance songs.
