Re: AC

I don't foresee it being closed past this weekend. They're (the gov.) is working 24 hrs. around the clock to eventually come to some type of an agreement.

If it does go past the weekend, it'll cripple the industry and I'm sure the government does not want to feel the wrath of the private investors and owners of the Casinos.

When's your BP?

The government cannot balance their budget. The government shuts down when they cannot come to an agreement. The governor would like to balance the budget, currently in defecit by increasing the sales tax from 6% to 7% but the legislators want to balance the budget in other ways such as increasing the income tax to those making 200K+.

Why the casino's are closed -

They are privately owned but require a government official/regulator to be on hand 24/7 since casino's are highly taxed and account for 90% of the State of New Jersey's 'income' per se. Since the govt is shut down, regulator's cannot be at the casino's and thus the casino's cannot operate.

Other government entities haven't been working since late last week - DMV, construction, etc.

Re: AC

All non-essential government offices in NJ have been shut down until NJ can pass their budget. Of course AC is not a government office, but the casino inspectors are employed by the government and cannot work now due to this budget issue. Therefore, they have closed down the casinos.

NJ Motor Vehichles is another agency that is affected by this...Thankfully those who have things needing renewal as of June 30th have been given a reprieve until July 31st and those that have things needing renewel in July have until August - Both DH and have renewals of our registration and license and my car is up for inspection this month too.
