Acrylic vs Silk nails **Updated**

I want to go get my nails done. Which is better? Acrylic vs silk nails? I would like to get a permanent french manicure. I am in a wedding on Saturday and my own is in 41 days!

Re: Acrylic vs Silk nails

Acrylics hold but arent the best on taking off. They are a B-tch to take off actually. They tend to ruin your nails more than the silk wraps do.
I think you are safer w/the wraps.

Re: Acrylic vs Silk nails

just a note.... silk chip more easily where acrylic stay on better
so it depends on how hard you are on your hands
yoiu need to get silk filled every 2 weeks where acrylic you COULD go a bit longer

Re: Acrylic vs Silk nails

Like everyone else said, acrylic lasts longer but is a b*tch to take off your nails, and in the long run I feel they are worse for your nails. If you are not that hard on your hands, silk should be fine.

Re: Acrylic vs Silk nails

I may be too late to voice my opinion this, but I've had both & found that I could never keep acrylics on. They constantly popped off on me(& over the years I have tried several different nail places), some people have told me I may have oily nail beds which could cause it. I never had any problems with the silk. And as far as fill ins go, your nails grow out at the same pace no matter what, so when you need a fill in shouldn't change.

Re: Acrylic vs Silk nails

I actually prefer silk but have to get acrylic because while silk is better for your nails, if you ever break one, it seems like it takes half your finger with it! OUCH!! Acrylic forms a kind of sculpt that, if it's on your nail a long time, lifts off in one piece.

Oh what we don't put ourselves through for beauty! Blessings!

Re: Acrylic vs Silk nails

update

i got acrylic, but i don't think i got the permanent french. this is what she did: she put some kind of tips on, (i don't have long nails at all) and then she put acrylic on top. she charged me for 'white tips with acrylic.' there was a major communication issue-i could not understand her and the person who speaks english was not there. i think they are too long now that i have them on for a while. is it a pain to have them shortened? ah the things we do for beauty!
