ETA: Fh & I are not the church kinda people... We are not very religious... I just have a thing against the church as an institution... I kinda think its crazy they make you take a test before you can get married to like 'prove' your love... :rolleyes

I'm getting married in a church. I'm one of those nerds who has always dreamed about walking down the aisle in my church.

You just really have to ask yourself... is this something I might regret not doing later? Hopefully, you only walk down that aisle once!

Re: Actual Ceremony
We are getting married at the reception hall. Neither of us go to church anymore so we decided that we love the ceremony location at the East Wind and want to get married there. Pictures are in my album.

Re: Actual Ceremony
We were both raised catholic, having completed all the sacraments but neither of us are religious. But, I have always dreamed about walking toward my fh down the aisle in church.
i think it's crazy that the church has to accept you, the 'donation', you have to belong to the parish, and testing.
so, i think it all depends on my experience with the church when we start to make arrangements.

we are Catholic but don't really believe in the whole Church thing - and I think pre-cana is ridiculous.....there's no way i'm doing that BS - JMO
i have to say that church weddings are beautiful but i think ceremonies at the RH can be just as nice - we plan on having a string quarter and doing lots of beautiful flowers for our ceremony which are things that some churches do not allow
Good luck!

Re: Actual Ceremony
We're getting married at the RH because I want to get married outside and its cost effective because I dont have to get a limo for hours.

I'm jealous of that! Plus I'm in Queens and I feel like every RH I like is way out in Suffolk... luckily my parents already said they're going to hire a bus to take all of our Queens guests to the reception and back so everyone can have a good time without worrying about drinking and driving! They did it for my sister and everyone was talking about how great it was all night!

you're part of the parish if you are registered with them, meaning you send donations. and when you want to get married, some churches have a donation amount that needs to be paid. crazy!

I am NOT knocking anyone's religion or CHURCH at ALL! But Wow I didnt know that. I pay tithes and give offering every sunday so I would expect them not to ask for anything when its time to get married.
