How do you go about getting the extras? Is that when the people are like, 'Well, I can give it to you for $X, and throw in this stuff' Or do you have to ask for things? We're going to finish the reception hunt this weekend and hopefully book in a week. And we're totally clueless about how this works and don't want to miss out on the little extras that we could get if we asked a certain way. Thanks so much everyone!!

Re: Added Extras??
I didnt really ASK I just said honestly
Nice sell: 'It sounds great, but we were looking for a little more for the same price...'
Hard sell: 'Look Im paying for this.. not my mother or my father and not his family.. you can't tell me that the price you just gave me is just for that?'

Ask! And it helps if you seems like it's important to you and you might not book if you don't get it. But you gotta ask.

Don't act too interested! If they think you might walk away they will try to throw in extras to get you! Xelindrya's advice is good!

Re: Added Extras??
when our caterer asked us how many we thought we could guarantee and we told him 135, he threw in a choice of free valet parking (a $300 value) or the International Coffee and Cordial bar (I believe at 150 guests it came out to like 640 or 750 bucks!).....Our DJ said if we used him for the cocktail hour, he'd do the ceremony for free
