Adding Black Tie Preferred-on invite or reception card??

Anyone know where the Black Tie Preferred should go?

I am pretty sure it goes on the invitation. I recently got an invite for a black tie optional wedding and it was on the invitation rather than the recpetion card.

My daughter and I recently had the same conversation. We decided that the formal invitation only invites guests to the church. The reception card invites people to the reception. We felt since the 'black tie optional' was directed towards the reception and not the church, it should go on the reception card. Hope I made sense here.
Good luck.

We put ours on the invitation.

We put our on the invitation in smaller print in the corner. If you put it on the response card, after your guest sends it back to you, he/she may forget the dress code and will not have the information on the invitation.

ETA: If you have a separate reception card, that's probably fine to put the dress code there too. My response above has more meaning if you are not having a separate reception card.

I placed it on the invite. I didn't put it on the reception card. That is enough I hope.

I would say reception card, you want black tie reception, not black tie church.

I think you should put it on the invitation.
