Hi girls.. I know this is silly but i'm getting everything together to send out my save-the-dates and i have a silly question.. how are you addressing the married couples? I always hated to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith so i'm really trying to not do that but it looks silly to put Mr. Joe and Mrs. Anne Smith on the envelope... and i was always a fan of 'the lady goes first' so how about Mrs. Anne and Mr. Joe Smith?? or maybe i should stop drinking so much coffee and obsessing about these things!!

Re: Address Dilemna
The ONLY proper and correct way to address a formal invitation for a formal event (such as a wedding) is:
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Smith
If you are having an informal and casual wedding (and are hoping guests will dress that way too), you can address an invitation to:
Susan and Joseph Smith
Anything else is simply incorrect, sorry.

Re: Address Dilemna
I sort of agree, the formal way is Mr and Mrs. M. Smith etc.... IMO I don't like it the other way. Maybe because it is different and I am not use to it.

Re: Address Dilemna
I had the exact same dilemma. I hate leaving out the woman's name, especially if the woman is my friend and the man is only her spouse/guest. So instead of addressing my invitations to 'Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith,' I sent them to 'Mr. and Mrs. Joe and Jane Smith.' I know it's not the correct formal way, but I felt pretty strongly about it so I did it anyway.

Re: Address Dilemna
The woman is not 'left out' .... she is Mrs.

Re: Address Dilemna
i think you should follow etiquette with this one...its just easier and no one will question it b/c it is the way it is typically written
