so, I am having trouble figuring out how to invite certain families.
Lets say we have Mr. and Mrs. Jones and in the same household we have son Joseph (22) son Nicolas (19) son Michael (16)
None of the sons have dates.
how would you handle invites to a family like this? P.S. I should add, this family is NOT a stickler for etiquette, but I don't want to be totally rude.

Re: addressing families in an invite???
How about...
Outside envelope: Mr. & Mrs. John Jones
Inside envelope: John & Mary Nichloas John Jr. Sam
You know just listed underneath? or you could just say Mr. & Mrs. John Jones & family??
Now I am thinking of many of my guest!!! UGH! LOL

Re: addressing families in an invite???
I thought over 18 you had to invite with a guest....you DON'T have to. If you weren't going to then you can put Mr. & Mrs. Jones and Family on the outside, then put all their names on the inside. Hope that helps.

I have the same problem. I thought putting 'and Family' on the front envelope is not proper etiquette?

Re: addressing families in an invite???
thanks ladies. I am getting conflicting answers from the etiquette sites, and although most say over 18 needs their own invite, I think its pretty silly to send 4 invites to one house, especially when 3 of them are going to go to teenage boys thatare gonna be like ' whats all these different papers? mom, you'll remind me, right?'

Re: addressing families in an invite???
I don't know if it was proper, but I sent the outer envelope to the parents, and on the inner envelope names all who were invited. Some invites were for 8 people, and with the cost of invites I was not sending all that!
