Did anyone address their invitation envelopes themselves on the computer? I tried to do it tonight - but I didn't want to mess too many invites up.....and I seemed to be a huge spaz at it. I can't get it right. Maybe that I had 3 hours of sleep last night, who knows? But if anyone has done this and can give me some help, I'd surely appreciate it!! Thanks!!!

Re: Addressing hte envelopes youself...
I know that if you have a laser printer its a lot easier. Just make sure to clean your printer heads before you put in the envelopes. Just so the ink doesn't run and make a mark on the envelopes

but what setting do you put it on, how do you make the address land in the correct spot on the envelope? can you do it in word? do you have to type each address in individually? i feel so freakin' stupid right now

I did it and what a pain to get it set up because my printer is a pain. I cut paper to the size of my envelopes with the lip and all and plaid with it until I got it to where I liked it. I tried formating it in word but it didn't work for my envelopes. Piece of advice give the printer a rest every now and then. When we did too many in a row I notice black spots would appear on the envelopes.

I used special clear labels that disappeared when you stuck them on.. saved me a bunch of time and still looked beautiful... It was also easier to print out, because the thickness of our envelopes and our printer just didn't want to get along!

This is exactly what I did, but I used word.
Go into page setup and change the paper size to the size of the envelope.

Ok here it goes. Yes you can do it on word. Get a ruler and measure your envelope. Go to file, then page setup, paper size, choose custom size and enter your measurements.
Before using the envelopes TEST, on a regular sheet of paper. Trust me, it will save you a lot of madness.
What type of printer do you have?

Re: Addressing invitation envelopes youself...
I just spent 2 hours doing the envelopes for my FBIL's thank you notes, front AND back flap, so I know exactly how to do this:
In Word, go to page setup and resize the document to the size of your envelope. If you have a common size, you can just pick it from the list.
Type in the address where and how you want it (or mail merge, if you know how to do that), using the regular formatting options.
Run a test with your printer. Figure out how you printer like to print envelopes, and how to feed the envelope to the printer so that the address shows up in the right place. What you do is get a piece of paper. Mark it with an arrow pointing down the 11 inch side. You can also write 'FRONT'. Load the paper in the printer the normal way, with the side with the arrow that reads FRONT facing up. Print one copy.
Most printers will have printed the address on the OTHER side of the paper. Some, however, will have printed it on the side it says FRONT.
If the printer printed on the other side of the paper, you know you have to put your envelopes in with the return flap facing you (and if not, the other way). But do you need to have the return flap towards the left or the right?
Take your paper and look at the address. Try to use your judgement here. Or you can do another test - draw a return flap on the left (or write 'return flap' on the left side of the page), print and see if that worked. If not, try the right side.
Remember to always print using BEST quality.
Good luck!
